06/13/2024 1230pm My Mum and I decided to have lunch at Soleil for a lovely treat. It was a beautiful day and we do enjoy the view from the restaurant. We were seated immediately at a lovely table facing the ocean. We did notice that there was only one other diner in the restaurant but thought maybe they had not stopped for lunch yet. We ordered a the half heart salad the Soleil French Dip, and one Diet Coke. Our food came about 30 minutes into our stay. When presented the salad was minimal with bits of shredded greenery and powdered parmesan on top of half of a romaine lettuce with a few tiny Roma tomatoes. The French dip was not crispy but very soggy and appeared to be old, and the seasoned fries were cold to touch. At that time I did request that all the food be returned to the kitchen since we were not going to stay. The manager came over and inquired about the French dip so I explained why I sent it back. She said that she was going to take care of everything so I thought Mum and I were finished and assisted my Mum with her walker so we could leave. On our departure we were stopped by the manager and a few staff members from exiting. The manager then asked me why I did not like the Caesar salad and I explained what I I was presented with, she then said so are you not going to pay for your Diet Coke? I was taken back as I thought from our last encounter that we were good to go. I had previously told my Mum that I was going to pay for my Diet Coke prior to the manager coming to the table. She then said that would not be necessary but I said I absolutely would pay for my drink as I had consumed it. I paid for my Diet Coke and we left. Since we are locals, I wanted people to know how we were treated and to bypass this restaurant unless you are...
Read moreThis is a little bit of a tough one to write, but I’d be remised to not leave a review in case someone has one nice night to go out-this probably isn’t the place. We walked in and it was totally empty… the gym above is open to the restaurant, no barrier or glass… we were seated at a very very small table which was odd for a group of four. The view outside of the sunset was gorgeous, and the decor and ambiance was okay too. No one at the front desk or the serving staff was able to give a recommendation of what was good or of what they enjoy…. The waitress was kind, and the food came out quickly but was not very good overall. The French onion soup had potential but lacked salt, and the shrimp risotto was not great. The shrimp itself was seasoned and tasty but the risotto was really strange. It had a weird after taste and was quite soupy. The wait staff asked how we liked our salmon cooked which was a new experience… I’ve only really heard that for beef… the salmon came out fine enough, though one serving was a really large piece and the other was tiny and skinny. It seemed odd to have such different sizes of the protein at the same table. One person at the table didn’t eat their risotto and there was not really any acknowledgement of that by the staff, they simply cleared the plate and didn’t seem concerned that only the shrimp were eaten. Again I lean more toward positive reviews but I would feel bad if someone wanted to use their one big money night or date night when there are much better options nearby. Also I have to acknowledge that it’s off season and that could be a factor but for the full pricing I’m not so sure that’s a very...
Read moreWhat a beautiful place to unwind and have a nice, quiet dinner!
We asked for a booth and got to sit in one of their circular booths that have curtains around some of the sides for privacy. Each table had an oil lamp lit, and the huge windows looked like they would give a stunning view when the sun is up.
My husband and I wanted to try several different things, so we did, and every single one of them was amazing. He started with French onion soup which he said was delicious. I started with the honey glazed cornbread, and he threatened to steal it after he tasted it! He doesn’t even like cornbread! Haha! It was delicious with a great mix combo of sweet and savory. He then got the burger with loaded fries, and I got the special which was a bolognaise. Both were fantastic. My bolognaise was bright and fresh tasting, and I don’t think I’ve ever had more perfectly cooked noodles. We also got the green beans in a Thai chili sauce, and there were a great take on fresh green beans in a sweet and spicy sauce that just set them off. I finished with the molten chocolate cake, and they didn’t miss there either. It was incredibly moist with plenty of sauce that complimented the dish nicely. All of the food was fresh and had been cooked perfectly, not in oil that was used all day. (Using oil that has been used all day has been something we’ve run into a lot around here given that we eat our last meal pretty late.)
On a side note, my husband was wearing a long sleeved Columbia swim type shirt and tennis shorts with flip flops, and they didn’t look askance at us…
This little spot is going to be a...
