I am sharing details of my experience from the point of view as a permanently disabled person; whose been a customer for 5 years. I live directly across the street; and have enjoyment in the restaurant on a monthly or bi weekly basis. I am writing a 3 star review in regards to the broken elevator that is used as facility to go down in the basement where the bathrooms are located. When asked to use the elevator; the host at the front was confused on what to do; he turned the elevator on - the door opens to darkness and only a small red light flickers. He says that the door may not close when traveling in the elevator. I asked for how long has the issue been happening; additional staff replied that the elevator has not worked for sometime and when the maintenance came to fix - the issue was bigger than they imagined. They advised that I could use the restroom in the Synagogue across the street :O what?! I used the stairs willingly; with my forearm crutches for my permanent disability - moving slowly down to the restroom; at the very last step - I slipped and embarrassingly fell in front of strangers. At this moment, I was ready to complete my dinner with friends and call it a night. I am sharing this experience as enlightenment for the general public to realize that the business is not suited for individuals with mobility concerns; but yet ableism seems to be the best word for how it feels. Please commit to improving the service for individuals with disabilities, the ADA turns 30 years old this year - you are a fine dining restaurant and you can do better. Especially if you want to accommodate individuals like myself. Please dont make me share how difficult it is to enter your restaurant; the barriers of the heavy door without the blue button - but I'm a champion and I believe that there are no lessons worth learning unless you teach them.

It was a quiet and slow night for Downtown Louie's on the Friday we made it into town for a very fast stop to pay our respects to my husband's uncle. The restaurant was not far from our hotel and our server was attentive and sweet. The inside of the restaurant has original wood and an area overlooking the street and the restaurant right hovering over the entrance that my son wondered how people got up to sit at the table housed there. Our server informed us it was just for decoration. We noted it would be cool if people could sit there, as it would be a romantic and coveted seat to reserve. I had a chicken dish with mashed potatoes and spinach. The chicken was a bit overcooked but was saved by the potent lemon seasoning. The mashed potatoes were a bit chunky and had the right touch of garlic and butter, but I was unable to finish them after sharing an order of truffle fries as an appetizer with the table. If you are in the downtown Detroit area, I do suggest trying Downtown Louie's, as it is more affordable than other venues and is convenient to most hotels there.

Came here for dinner with friends last weekend. The restaurant itself is really cool. I love the layout, vibes, atmosphere and overall decor. Our waitress was also top notch. She was attentive, timely, and always there checking on us to make sure we had full drinks and everything we needed. She was also really funny, joining us with some humorous bantor. The drinks we ordered were really good. These included the espresso martini, house margarita, and moscow mule. We started with a calamari appetizer which was fantastic. For dinner, two of us ordered a burger, one has a corned beef sandwich, and last there was a chicken club. Overall, everyone really likes their food. The one problem we had was half of my burger had so much grease that half of the bottom bun was soaked and mushy. I cut the burger in half and ate the part that didn't have a mushy bottom bun. I'm sure I could have asked for a new bottom bun but I didn't have that big of an appetite so I let it go.

Went here on the 19th of February for a date, initial impressions were very good, nice and quaint but trendy looking location in the heart of downtown Detroit. All the wait staff were extremely friendly, bar staff were great as I had a nice and strong gin and tonic as my aperitif. Ordered the charcuterie board as an app while I awaited the arrival of my date, and while it was nice and complex, it could have done with a couple other types of cheese (just had gouda and raclette) to match the 4 types of meat.

Unfortunately, once we ordered our mains the issues started. I got the 6 oz filet and my date had the salmon entrée (ordered med rare and well done, respectively). The salmon came out as requested and delicious according to my date. However, the filet I ordered after the first cut looked so overdone to the point of it being passed as dog food, and I didn't take a single bite. I immediately sent it back and requested the chicken entrée (if they screwed up that badly the first time on the filet, I didn't have any hope they would be able to correct it) which was a breast in a ground mustard and apple slice sauce. The chicken was cooked properly, but the sauce was basically just ground mustard and cream poured sloppily over the breast, not at all appetizing. At this point, it was a half hour before the kitchen closed, and I just needed to eat something.

As I said before, the wait staff were excellent, our server repeatedly apologized for the delays and issues in our meal, commended us for being patient, and even got us desert on the house (fried oreos topped with whipped cream), but the kitchen needs major work. I was disappointed with the experience as this place has been on my wish list for a while, but I will not be returning...

Here are the cliff notes for those who do not wish to know the detailed story: this is not a vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurant as of 12/27/22 the menu is outdated and has been for some time the service is very slow the cooks do not follow instructon

I am vegan and honestly wouldn’t have eaten here if the neighboring restaurant, ChickP Detroit, wasn’t unexpectedly closed. It was Tuesday 12/27/22 at about 6p and despite their menu having limited plant-based options, my friend and I had already walked several blocks and we were hungry.

I ordered a watermelon salad from the menu (minus prociutto and cheese) only to be informed that this is no longer available and hasn’t been for a while. Our server informed us of the items that were available, but not updated on the menu and so I ordered the pear salad. I asked for no cheese and bacon, but when my salad arrived, to my disappointment, there was cheese and bacon. It had already taken a while for the food to come out and I had to wait nearly as long as it took for the food to come for the server to come back and check on our table. She took my plate to the kitchen to be remade only to return to inform me that the kitchen was now out of pears. At that point I told her that I was all set. It took her another 10 minutes or so to come back with our check. I paid $15 for brussel sprouts (an appetizer) and left.

Aside from being very friendly, our server was not very good at her job. She was very slow and our waters were never refilled. This was my first time and needless to say my absolute...
