6 Salon — Local services in Detroit

Not a big review leav-er, but unfortunately had a negative experience that I want to share. I went for a walk in haircut and they said somebody was available who was one of their level six stylist, this apparently means the top of their team. They said the haircut was $100, this included a wash consultation haircut and a blow dry. Seems like a lot but I decided to treat myself figuring it would be about an hour of a nice relaxing experience coming out with a cool haircut. The wash about five minutes. The consultation was about two, to which I felt like the assistant paid no attention to me and their comments were like wow cool love it and seemed very just auto pilot, I was not asked for pictures and when I tried to find some on my phone, it didn’t feel like it was paid any attention to. The stylist did explain to me the science behind haircuts and transitioning from one haircut to another however, they didn’t really listen to me after the explanation and me saying I’d rather stick with the haircut I have because I want less length cut off. I felt like I was ridiculed for coming too soon with a short haircut. anyways they went on with haircut and was literally done in less then 5 minutes. And started blow drying my hair, which I said, do you cut the hair when it’s dry and they said no I’m already done. I asked for bangs I asked for layers no check ins were had. My bangs are not existent and my hair is significantly shorter, which was what I was worried about. I was done with the cut wash and blow dry in less than 30 minutes. This was not luxurious. I was originally apprehensive about coming in, not because of the reviews or location but because I wanted a haircolor that I was always told was just not possible by other salonist back home. But on May 18th I decided to take a chance, that morning I called the salon the moment they opened and the receptionist was amazing and managed to get me in same day. When I arrived (a bit early) the salonist Lyndsay came over and greeted me. Lyndsay was amazing she heard what I wanted, gave me a game plan and got straight to work. I was there a few hours because going from dark brown to silver is no easy endeavor. However, Lindsay came to check up on me every twenty minutes and asked if I needed anything such as water or anything else. She and her assistant were attentive to me and made sure to keep tabs and strike up a conversation. I have to say of all the shops I have been to over the years this is one I will be a repeat customer at! After we achieved the color Linsay did a final cut, I gave her permission to do whatever she wanted and she gave me a haircut that looked amazing! Everyone loves the color and cut and I will be back. After the appointment she answered any questions I had about managing the color, and showed me what products to use, how often, and etc. what was even more amazing is that I did not feel rushed, being a same day appointment I thought it would be rushed but everyone took their time and it was honestly amazing.

The price was amazing too, I expected it to be so much more because the salon was spectacular and everyone was having so much fun and were experts but I was pleasantly surprised. This will be my go to place from...

All women know that once you find The Stylist, you follow them anywhere. I found April years ago, and when I found out that she'd moved to 6 Salon, pretty much across Woodward from where I work, I walked through an actual snowstorm (just a couple of blocks but STILL) to check it out. They weren't even open yet, but were incredibly friendly and happy to give my bedraggled self a tour, and get me booked through the spring (I come in once a month because I have stubborn resistant gray that laughs in the face of almost everything, April tamed it ages ago).

I'm actually AT the salon as I'm writing this review, because it's the perfect location for all the professionals living and working in Detroit. Super-clean, great staff, and so incredibly convenient. So the location is definitely part of the draw, but April is what got me to switch salons (nothing against my old one, but she's The Stylist for me). April is unbelievably talented, but she's one of the sweetest, most humble people you'll ever meet. She's one of those people that you almost wonder..."Is she REALLY that awesome?" Yep, she is. A true artist at what she does, puts everyone at ease, and has an ability to truly read someone's personality and style them in then a way that inevitably makes them happy that they took her advice.

Five stars from this very happy customer, I definitely recommend this location whether or not you live/work in Detroit, there's lots of stuff going on so you can show off your fabulous...
