My partner and I were very excited to visit this place. We had heard great things and loved the concept. However, we were VERY disappointed with customer service once upon arrival.
We went around 4:15 PM on Sunday, September 29th. Upon walking up to the store, we noticed that all tables were taken. We proceeded to stand at the doorway and wait for a staff member to address us on what the walk-in process was, since you cannot make a reservation if your party is less than 5 people. We would have walked in to ask ourselves, but with the amount of people inside at that time, there was no clear path to the front desk.
After standing for about a minute or so, I saw that they offered a QR code for discounted parking (the QR code was taped on the entrance wall). With every intention to still wait for services, I scanned the QR code and proceeded to wait. Then, not a minute later, the lady at the front desk inside looked at me and spoke from across the lab, stating in a far-less-than-welcoming tone “yea I saw what you just did. You can’t do that. It was a good idea but you can’t do that.” I was thoroughly confused because I was unsure on if she was speaking to me or not, and then when I realized she was, I was extremely taken aback by the use of attitude and need to address me so publicly like that. I kindly explained that I had every intention to still proceed with services and was just scanning it while I waited; the lady only then told me that they were all booked and that “I should have scanned it after a check in”. I left with no additional remarks.
My issue with the staff member’s approach was the need to publicly address me in a hostile way without ever asking me if I needed assistance or letting me know the minute she saw me standing at the door that they were booked and could not take any more customers. She automatically assumed that I was trying to finesse discounted parking without paying for services, which was extremely rude and off putting. That was never my intention, and if there is a specific policy around when to scan the QR code for discounted parking, then such should have been mentioned in a much more respectful way. Will not...
Read moreI wish I could give five stars but unfortunately was not. I booked a birthday surprise for my husband over a month ago. The Detroit Location is located in Parkers alley. It is very hard to locate parking is hard to get on a Saturday with a Tigers game. We were late by 10 mins I get that 100%. The session is 45 mins long. It was just us two not a big group. When we arrived they looked at their schedule my name was no where on the schedule board and glanced at computer system. They then go to tell us we sorry but it is a bigger group of 16 so we can’t honor your reservation. We looked around the place was empty just us two. We proceed to ask if we can come back and they said the group would be the last one. Again I understand reservations but a business will usually have a slight grace period. There was not a clear instructions on site of if late….. or make sure to know we are in Parker’s Alley etc with a small Sign. Very disappointed especially because it was surprise. We may try another location down road and the idea is great and looks like fun. But the methods definitely to be more graceful to reservations due to location. If there are big groups block off that time on reservations. The time we had could have been accommodated due to length...
Read moreTook the hubby for our 16th anniversary on 6/27/25. We will definitely be back! The ambiance was chill, the aromatender - Toya - was so much fun and had the bomb playlist! She treated us like family. She explained everything well, made suggestions when asked, and was knowledgeable about the products and the company. Very "peopley" which I loved. KEEP TOYA AROUND - she's great for business! There was a nice variety of scents. At 1st, I thought the products were a bit pricey but think about it - you're creating a custom blend that no one else has. People go to Macy's to buy a bottle of T.Ford perfume for $300! I did like the variety of products that you can add your scent to. I love that she lets everyone approve their blend before adding it to the product. The only thing I will say about the current Detroit venue is that it is very small. They do appointments so it cuts down on 'crowd control' but I hear that, eventually, they'll be moving to a bigger space. Either way, this will NOT be my last experience here for SURE!! Oh & you create an account to save your blends for future refills!...
