Let me start off by saying how EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED my daughter and I were with the food and the service today. We are here visiting from miles away and we ran across this restaurant on Google and decided to try it out on yesterday. The cook and waitress did a phenomenal job on Saturday (the grits were very good), but to return on Sunday to receive the exact opposite of both was a shocker. Based off of the experience on Sunday, it felt intentional. The vibe was off from the time the waitress approached our table. We should’ve left right then and there. When the plates came out the grits tasted like instant grits with NO seasoning whatsoever, the eggs were not scrambled well (runny) and the bacon wasn’t well done as I requested. My daughter wasn’t pleased with her food either but she chose to pay for her food and leave a tip (that the waitress didn’t deserve) to keep from creating a scene. I refused to eat any of it and sent it back to the kitchen. Also, the waitress who took our order didn’t bring our food to the table…another waitress did so that tip should’ve been split with her. This $23 plus change should not have been spent here today period. The mistake that I made was not call the manager or owner to our table. Whoever cooked our food did a horrible job and should not be in nobody’s professional kitchen cooking NOTHING!!! And you should be ashamed of yourself for doing so. We were treated very poorly and for what reason?? Again this felt personal (like lowkey hating) After Saturday’s visit I was ready to share with friends and family to try your restaurant when visiting Detroit, but after the way we were treated today (Sunday) I will not ever mention this place to them or anyone else. Discipline/retrain your staff and your cooks because that was a malicious act that affected your restaurant rating. Get rid of these employees because they are BAD for your business and your REVENUE. Its very mean and unprofessional to play with people’s food or money. We are people of God so karma will follow these ladies’ actions. I do not recommend this restaurant because it’s not consistent and doesn’t treat some of the customers kindly. This is why I cook and prepare my food at home because of bad experiences like this. WE WILL...
Read moreWalking into the restaurant it has a charm and warmth, nicely decorated. My friend and I waited to be sat, it's a Sunday at lunch time we aren't phased by the wait. The food coming out of the kitchen looks amazing, being our first time (and our last) we were excited to dine in. After being sat it took awhile for us to be brought water and to be greeted BUT we were understanding since everywhere is short staffed. As long as my food is good and hot we both laughed and said we didn't care. Our server took our order and that was the last time she came to our table. Our drinks sat empty, food we watched sit in the hot window, delivered by someone not our server, my Cuban sandwich was dry and hard for $13 I'd expect better! My chili cheese fries were another $6 though the best part of my meal because those were actually served hot, they were lacking cheese. There was "some" I think I saw some sprinkles on the plate but nothing to be found under the chili. Way over priced for what was served! My friend ordered their Frank's Homestyle Crispy Sandwich. There was NOTHING homestyle about that chicken! Looked like something from a GFS special, hardly any breading, dry, was not served with the spicy ranch nor pickles like described on their menu. We tried multiple times to get our servers attention but never could. We ended up getting the attention of a different server. That server was actually walking around refilling coffees and waters. Ours no where.. My friend said her onion rings were tasty but that the sandwich wasn't anything like what she was expecting. We like trying different places than our usual and since we were at Eastern Market we thought we would try it. Nope. Biggest waste of $45!! I was server and expo for many years that food should not have left the window, been served, and the server should not have neglected her table! Short staffed or not, I have no desire to return nor would...
Read moreSo disappointed with my visit today. This is my 4th time visiting Farmer Franks. I specifically waited to write my review in hopes that service would be different. 1st time ordering we ordered the very berry French toast that was supposed to come with mascarpone cheese. Instead of telling me that no mascarpone cheese was available she just took the order and brought the French toast without it. No apology by the busy waitress. So basically the menu does not reflect what they are serving. Food arrived cold. Waitress was not accommodating at all. Fast forward to today. I ordered the same breakfast as always but was charged double. Same breakfast different price. The explanation given by the same rude waitress was “ you didn’t order a combo” actually she was moving too fast and got my order wrong. Did not accommodate this time either. There are plenty of places to eat in this area. As you can tell from my review status , this is what I do. I write reviews and people listen. The food was subpar and cold and the service was rude, dismissive and non-accommodating. Ordered hot chocolate with whipped cream, instead of saying “we are out of whipped cream” she just brought the hot chocolate no apology. It’s so disappointing when you patronize a business and you get this type of service. Go somewhere else. It’s not worth your money or...
