Found this place while searching the “find me gluten-free app” and saw this place had just opened up! My boyfriend, who is celiac, and I decided to try the sushi before a concert at Little Caesar’s. He hasn’t had sushi in at least 5 years since being diagnosed. The service was amazing, personable, and friendly. The food was outstanding, delicious, fresh, and made-to-order. I had even asked to see the package for the imitation crab meat, because my boyfriend said that most weren’t gluten-free, and they had no problem showing me the package which eased his anxiety for trying a new place. It was so amazing we actually wanted more sushi after the concert! So we came back around 11:15pm but they are not open until midnight like Google says. I believe the current hours listed are for the building Detroit Shipping Co, not the actual restaurant.

After my boyfriend got home from work today he was craving sushi, so we drove 40 minutes to come here and 40 back home. 100% worth it. There are not many places that are dedicated gluten-free around here, nor are ANY of them Asian food. I love Asian food and always just get it by myself, but now we can come here together and we both leave full and happy. I know they just opened but I would love to see a noodle dish on the menu eventually!

Pictured is “the Big Three” and “Shipping Company” for our first time. The second time (today) we had “Shipping Company” (again), “Harmony Garden” and “Shrimp Tempura”. We also tried the seaweed salad and...

Went here on their opening day at Detroit Shipping company and they were busy. People were hungry for their sushi and specialty rolls and there was a line. We had a roll with shrimp tempura and lobster($29) ànd a veggie roll ,($17?). Both rolls very beautiful and tasty though we wondered if they pre-gamed and made some components earlier as very slightly chewy. This is nit picking though. They are all GF,even the soy sauce and there's a lot of variety. Even your non sushi loving friends will find something here and the atmosphere in shipping company is always fun and loud. We found a quiet corner and waited for our rolls. Service was good and they timed it right and notified us when ready. Forgot to take a picture as we ate...

Sushi Lounge at Detroit Shipping Co? A whole vibe. Chef Jaz is pure charisma…bubbly, friendly, and clearly passionate about the craft. I had one of the best tempura shrimp rolls I’ve ever tasted: fresh, flavorful, and filling without being heavy. And those Detroit-style rolls? Big, bold, and beautifully done.

The energy in the building was electric….live DJ spinning, Lions fans repping, families vibing. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab high-quality sushi without at reasonable prices, served up by a staff that radiates good energy.

If you haven’t been yet, go ahead and treat yourself. You deserve a roll that rolls...

I can’t believe this sushi place is 100% gluten-free! I went yesterday and today because it was so good. Yesterday, I had their Philly roll, which had a smoky and rich taste. I also had Ongiri, which is like rice balls in the shape of a triangle with spicy seasoning and the other had sesame, and I dipped them into gluten-free soy sauce! Today, I had a classic California roll and their fried shrimp tempura roll, which is my favorite, it was so crispy. Will definitely come back!!
