I would not recommend people of color and minorities to go to this bar. Might I add, this took place on a Monday night and the bar was not busy. All persons mentioned in this review are minorities and the bouncer and bartender were white men. The bouncer was extremely disrespectful. My two friends and I were waiting by the door for my boyfriend to park and bring our ids. He had an attitude from the beginning, interjected into our conversation with snarky remarks, and repeatedly shouted, “are you getting your ids or what?” The bartender had an attitude with us as well. Our other friend walked in to use the bathroom before ordering and the bouncer ran after her and grabbed her in a thrashing manner to check her id. Our last two friends walked in and were not allowed to enter because they are 20. While they waited for their uber inside by the door since they couldn’t enter, the bouncer physically shoved them outside. He proceeded to shout at us that we were “disrespectful” only after we called him the same. He also shouted, “see you never”. He was extremely rude and unprofessional.
Mr Owner,
Look at these reviews. Multiple POC and minorities have had shared experiences here! Gaslighting me was unecessary!
I have watched your Youtube video explaining that Temple Bar is inclusive and diversive, but our experience did not reflect that. I find it extremely offensive to accuse me of lying and how disrespectful you are as a business owner. That night we interacted with a non-diverse crowd and staff. My friend told me she was grabbed by the employee so I stand by that and not your claims from alleged video footage.
In reality, my anger is in how you treated my 21 and up friends and physically shoved those who were underage. If you truly want to protect your alcohol license and age limit, politely ask minors to leave, do not physically push them out of the door. A main part of my dedication to diversity and inclusion is calling out injustices such...
Read moreDon't let the dark underground look from the outside deter you, this is a great place to grab a couple drinks and the bartenders are awesome. They accept all walks of life here, just no peddle pubs! When there's no live DJ, they have a juke box you can load it up with your favorite tunes. The dance floor gets busy around 11pm if they have a good DJ that night. I've never had any issues with people there. Lost my phone once and someone returned it to the bartender. Drink prices are average, mixed drinks are a bit on the small side. Bathrooms are a bit dingy and the whole back area near the washroom smells like urinal cakes. The Patio out back is a great place to grab some fresh air. One of my fav places to go, not everyone's cup...
Read moreThis is a must-do before a Red Wings game!!! Right around the corner from the LCA and the beer prices are extremely affordable vs what you pay at the stadium. If you are lucky, you might even see little Darla hanging around and get an opportunity to say hi to the Temple's most unique bar patron
We found overserves back at Temple after our bus blew right by our stop last night (thanks DDOT). Our bartender was so friendly to us in light of our predicament that she kept tabs on when the next bus was supposed to be by. We struck up a conversation while waiting for the next bus and had a very good time before the bar got busy with Red Wings fans. Shout out to M!!!
Will definitely be back here...
