Took forever, cold overcooked food and basic beer! BY FAR the worst place we ate during our week skiing! Our group of 8 college friends visiting from San Francisco and Boston just finished a week in Breckenridge and visited all the breweries and ski areas that Summit County has to offer beer lover’s. There are some awesome places making great beers and food, a few decent spots and one that fails in all areas compared to the others. We all had different opinions, but the top ones were indisputable as was the loser. Angry James has the best beers hands down followed closely by Highside and Outer Range. Not too far behind were Bakers’, Broken Compass, Dillon Dam and Breckenridge. We thought Pug Ryan’s beers were generic and out dated at best. As for eats, Highside and Bakers’ were our unanimous favorites. Angry James has limited offerings, but they were delicious as well. Breckenridge, Dillon Dam both have some good stuff to eat but for the most part their menus were like most breweries and very creative. We didn’t eat at Outer Range or Broken Compass as they don’t have in house food, but you can bring your own grub with you. Outer Range is next door to a Mexican place and shares their parking lot with Whole Foods. They both have guest food trucks as well. Pug Ryan’s was overly disappointing on all fronts, you’re better off grabbing a six pack of Coors and a Subway sandwich then wasting your money at that place. Hope this is helpful for all you brewery...
Read moreCame here for a bite after a long day of skiing, A bite and a brew is what I was foreseeing. The environment lacked some adequate lighting, But on we went with the meal, the day was just so exciting.
The staff was friendly - our waiter, almost to a fault, He seemed to demean every item on the menu if it wasn't out of the "Today's Special's" Vault. He seemed so excited about the French Dip with mashed potatoes, I wish I'd only known it would cause hours of vomiting tornadoes.
He did such a good job with his positive descriptions, it made 3 of the 8 of us believe we needed French dip prescriptions. So off we went and we ordered our food, French Dip for me, some soup for those who couldn't be skewed.
When we asked how big the bowl of soup would be, The waiter responded "about 1.5x the cup I foresee" But the waiter was wrong for when the cup and bowl came out, The soup was eaten as we all tried to hold back our doubt.
With the help of some water, the cup of soup was measured, The bowl eaters paid much more for the same amount of soup that the cup slurpers treasured.
Now I'd say that Pug Ryan's may have tainted my night, When the French Dip caused my toilet and neighbors a great big fright. But the truth of the matter is this place was pretty good, Had a nice time with friends, despite the French Dip that I wouldn't have gotten...
Read moreWe went a month or so ago. We had the worst service. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Got our food before our drinks. We had to remind the waitress of our beers we ordered. She brought out the wrong beer for me. So she left them both claiming 'it was already on the table' and said she would get me the right one. I finished my food before the bartender walked it out to me. I declined it stating I ordered it 30 mins ago. The bartender was rude and just said they were busy. The worst part was after telling our waitress she brought us the wrong beer, she ignored us the rest of the night. She walked around our table, helped her other customers, even stopped to chat with them and make small talk. We were not rude about anything and she still ignored my husband and I and our 5 yr old daughter. She Never apologized or checked on us again. Never got water refills or asked how our food was. We had to flag her down to get the bill and it was wrong...all 3 beers were still on it! The one we declined and the one we never ordered. We had to ask her to correct it. I even tried to email the manager after this incident but got no response. We used to love this place. But it will be a while before we return. Hope this review triggers action or at least...
