The only reason I am leaving 3 stars is because the food was good and the manager was really helpful in helping me out with the incident that happened. I ordered for delivery from the restaurant through Postmates. First of all, I was missing two items, which I understand it could be the restaurant’s or Postmate’s mistake. Then, I looked closer to the printed receipt and those two items were missing on the receipt, so the “missing” part made sense. However, what did not make sense was that I was still being charged the same amount of money. I then looked closer to the printed receipt and it was because the bartender (his name is Roger by the way) who rung up my order, decided to charge me $18 as a gratuity fee. This of course did not make any sense, since the whole point of delivery is not paying a service fee. When I called the restaurant Roger said that he charged that fee because “there were more than 5 plates on my order” and because he had the “gesture” of wrapping up my order and adding bread an butter to my order (most ridiculous thing I have ever heard). He then told me that if I was so upset about the extra charge that he was willing to talk with the manager about it, which of course I asked him to do so. He then called me back to ask me for my credit card info to process the refund, but since it was the delivery’s guy card who was charged, he was not able to process the refund. He then told me that he was willing to meet up with me to give me the cash back in person for “my convenience”. The conversation ended in him telling me: “I do not want to have any problems with the restaurant’s admin. team”, which of course made me think that he said that because he knew what he was doing. I showed up to restaurant and explained what happened to the host and to the manager. I want to add that Roger was at the bar and kept insisting on being part of the conversation, for which the manager asked him to stay out at that moment so she could listen to me. Roger took out the cash and put it on the table and said “ Like I told you yesterday, here is your money”. When I mentioned Roger’s response to the gratuity charge, I was told that I should not have been charged for that and that bread and butter comes with ALL orders (of course it was not some extra nice gesture that he did for me). The manager was really nice and helpful and refunded me the money. It is a shame that their employee acted they way he did with excuses for his...
Read moreUpdate! It seems that a few years back this place sold to new owners or, changed under new management. In which case I neglected to update my review the last time that I visited this establishment. This was once my go to perfect treat when I wanted to have an elegant and tasteful dining experience close to home. I was just looking at my past reviews and realized that I hadn't ever updated this one. I'd hate to steer anyone toward something that is untrue. I once rated this place as a 5 star but after my experience the last 2 times that I visited .. (pre pandemic) I never returned again. They had enlarged their restaurant space and added a rear hallway to access the additional seating space but they really failed at making the environment feel cohesive. The Ambiance in this place went from charming and elegant to loud and Latin Cafe restuarant-ish. As for the food, as much as it had a close to the original flare to it in some of the flavors, it was not the same. Perhaps I went on a couple of off times "if you will" but it was enough for me to make an opinion on it for the prices one pays to dine here. If you do visit, don't forget to leave room for the dessert. The Strawberry Napoleon was really good. Probably the best that we've had anywhere. (if they haven't changed their outsourced baker). The location is in a standard store front shopping center/building with easy parking. the initial entrance area still has it's original nice presentation but the rear or side hall with additional seating left much to be desired under their cold white lights. I remember feeling like the outcasts in the hidden room .. LOL.. Hopefully they have updated this since. The staff was...
Read moreI had previously eaten at this restaurant and had a great experince so we (husband and I) decided to try it out again despite it being over 15 miles from our home. We arrived 1.5 hours before closing and it was pretty busy. From the start it was bad, i found gnat/fly in my drink, asked to have it replaced and the server asked if it had a nametag and the busboy mocked us for requesting a change because of a "little" gnat. Second glass had oil residue inside; had it changed again. We had a parrillada that was overly cooked & salty and it took 15 minutes for our sides to come out. We were offered desserts which looked like they had been sitting out the whole day on a cart which we did not try. When paying, we we tried to use a discount coupon and the server was extremely rude by looking at us, rolling his eyes, putting on his glasses and pointing out the fineprint exclusions without even speaking to us and walked away. We tried to speak with the manager and explain how bad the service and experience had been only to be told that the bad service was justifiable and in all was our fault for arriving so late and that they had had a long/busy day. As for the gnat/fly he said that they tended to come in through the doors when opened so there was nothing he could do and that it was our choice if we didn't decide to come back. It's sad because this place is nice and cozy but the staff, food quality and mismanagement ruined all and we will never return again. Save yourself money, time and...
