Who doesn't love pancakes????!!! But if by some chance, pancakes aren't your thing.....no need to worry! iHop has a full breakfast/lunch/dinner menu. If you've never been to iHop for dinner, give them a shot! I love their soups, salads, soft garlic bread, excellent spaghetti and country fried steak, lots of burger choices.....it's just really nice. I would also like to mention one more thing. This specific iHop (the one in Dublin, CA) is by far the BEST iHop in the country. I've been to iHops everywhere, and this one is consistently the best. It's the cleanest, the chefs/cooks make it RIGHT every time, and everyone is so friendly and attentive (I'm talking about the servers). Lots of "regulars" here on weekday mornings, but on the weekend it is very, very crowded. I guess Saturday and Sunday mornings are when people say, "Let's go to iHop!". The line is usually out the door and roughly a 30 minute or more wait. But it's not like that during the week. Whenever I do a review on anything, I always point out one negative because a perfect restaurant, gas station, hotel, airline, etc, does not exist. And this 5 star iHop is no exception. My one gripe---my ONLY gripe---are their restrooms. The male restroom just clashes with how nice everything else is. There is one "stall" and one "stand up" in the men's room (actually I think there are 2 stand-ups/urinals in the men's room now that I think about it), and the restroom is never clean. I try not to touch anything and to be very careful where I walk because the tile floor is always wet, and I don't know exactly what's on the floor (and I probably don't want to know). I will only run in their to "number 1" and get in and get out as fast as possible. I wouldn't dare consider a "number 2" in that restroom. It's just DIRTY! Shell stations in Pleasanton have cleaner restrooms than they do. If you want to see what I mean, just walk next door after your meal and check out that Shell's facilities. NIGHT AND DAY. I think part of the problem is that there isn't a designated person to clean it. Unless it's the bus boy, but he's always super busy cleaning tables. I know, I know.....it's a terrible job to have. I totally agree. But still, someone has to do it. I don't know what the solution is, but they need to up their game with the restrooms. It's always been a bothersome detail to me. But don't let that stop you from going to this restaurant. Skip the restrooom and just order some great food! Thanks...
Read moreThe service is what ultimately determined my scoring for this. Suly was our server and ignored us, blatantly, and I'm telling you right now, it was racially motivated. It was not busy.
It's easy for servers to provide poor service to Black customers because they subscribe to the discriminatory rhetoric that Black people don't tip. Then, when that prophecy self-fulfills itself because we were mistreated for absolutely no reason, then the server can go about and say "see, I knew they weren't going to tip" or "see, I knew they were gong to tip poorly". Let me be clear, we still tipped her, even after her lackluster service skills.
All of our orders were incorrect. I understand that servers are not responsible for when the cooks mess up an order, however, our server came back asking if we ordered something, and it was absolutely wrong, so it begs the question as to whether she put the orders in correctly.
Our server purposely ignored us. We were a table of 5. Next to us was a table of 9. She was extremely attentive to the family of 9, coming in and checking on them multiple times. She checked in on us ONCE. We had tried to get her attention multiple times--she made eye contact with us twice, then turned around and left. We had to ask for assistance from a completely different server--a woman with red hair, who was very kind. When our server saw we were being assisted by the other server, all of a sudden she emerged and wanted to be helpful. That was the one time she showed up to check in on us.
When she handed us our bill, she mentioned nothing about coming to her to pay. Generally at IHOP, you go to the front to pay. Even if no one is there, someone will come up. As we were getting up to head to the front, our server comes up in a fluster telling us we can pay with her--like we were supposed to know by her lack of attention and...
Read moreI have changed my opinion of IHOP. I am always willing to give a second chance and today June 16, 2022 I revise my review. I can't tell you who got in there and made changes but this day it was the absolute BEST. I was greeted very quickly.
I wanted breakfast food for lunch. The Waitress advise me a better way to place my order for which I got slightly more food at a better cost, big win. My order was Togo as there are new laws about condiments that the Waitress told me about to make sure I did receive my butter, ketchup, napkins and such. She advise me that if I did not ask it would not be included. As I wrote, someone who loves IHOP was put in a position to make changes and improvements. The Steak Omelet was fantastic, The Strawberries and Banana French Toast was DELICIOUS. Plenty of food for me and my dog to share. The TOGO containers are very well thought out extra order of hash browns remained hot. The current workers have made this place better.
The restaurant was spotless as they were following cdc protocols.
The Cooks, The Greeter, and my Waitress made for a fantastic meal. Please give them a try. Hopefully you get the same people I got.
I left my original message below for you to make a judgment.
Terrible service whether you eat in or get deliveries. My pick up order was more than 25 minutes late. This goes back to the simple idea, pay the workers a livable wage and there would be plenty of help. This location has always had terrible service. Father's Day proved once again the entire staff needs to be fired and replaced. Food deliveries drivers waited until many orders were ready, sending...
