We stopped here on our way out of town, after skipping the hotel coffee & scouring all of our sources for locating real coffee.
I'd read that the croissants were a MUST if there were any left. There were 2 almond croissants, so we snagged 1 right off the bat.
The hubs went right in for a nitro I was less decisive - toggling between the macchiato and cortado. I opted for the cortado. He got his right away and went to the table. I waited. After a bit, I noticed a cup sitting there and I was the only person left. It was bigger than expected, I scowled but reached for it. They told me it wasn't mine. Oops, I was fondling someone else's lifeline. Also, yay, my drink wasn't made wrong! Don't judge me- the cortado, much like the macchiato HAS been served to me in a 10oz mug more than once. Sometimes less is more.
Moments later my lil cuppa life was in my trembling hands. Smooth & Satsfying. I could catch the full flavor of the coffee, with just enough cut through. Hot, but not scalding.
The hubs enjoyed his drink - he can leave his own review.
The croissant, while not actually made here and possibly not appropriate to review here, was quite good. I'd definitely purchase again, though I won't lie and say it's the best I've ever had. It's the best I've had this month. ; )
Music was played at an appropriate volume for the setting. Photographs displayed for sale were aesthetically pleasing.
A solid 4 stars - nothing gimmicky, just good coffee, which was EXACTLY...
Read moreSunday September 29, 2024 I waited in line for my espresso beverage for 30 minutes! Being a former server, bartender, barista, and food service manager there is no excuse for the entire experience I had at this place this morning. In addition to the unrealistic wait for my beverage when I tasted it I discovered the espresso grounds were burnt! I called immediately afterwards to ask for the manager. I was told I could contact the manager through email. I couldn’t speak to them because they are in Korea. I was late for my itinerary of driving plans for the day because of my long wait. The person who answered the phone said “well, there’s not much more we can do.” She didn’t offer an apology or any real reconciliation except I can come back again at a later time and explain this whole thing over again to whoever is working when I can make it back in. Hahahaha……basically, it’s my problem so find a way to deal with it later spending more time on a service I just paid for that was way below satisfactory. Is it that difficult to provide quality service? Is it that difficult to accept accountability? Is it that difficult to receive and accept constructive criticism from a paying customer? Please, Duluth Coffee Company find a way to represent your brand...
Read moreProduct: Unremarkable. I tried two different flat whites (made by separate baristas). One was enjoyable, while the other was not (the milk was over-steamed and the espresso over extracted). Personally, I would not recommend their product. But, it’s one of the few places that Duluth has to offer.
Atmosphere: Dark. Cold. Disruptive. Smack dab in the middle of the cafe is a roaster. They did not use it while I was there (thankfully, because it can be very loud and unpleasant). The cafe seems to have recently received a makeover: New paint on the walls, new shelves installed, and new paintings to stare at while you’re in line. Together, it felt like a hodgepodge gallery for upscale graffiti.
Staff: The staff were very friendly - the best part of the experience, by far!
Food: Their food options were very limited. Not sure if that will change. Wouldn’t recommend going to Duluth Coffee Co. if you’re looking for a snack (or meal).
Conclusion: Duluth Coffee Co. is trying to stand out in a city that doesn’t have much to offer with respect to coffee. Unfortunately, what makes them stand out is their friendly service despite the absence of a...
