It's been a year since our wedding and a year I've given myself time to think about the Greysolon. As our anniversary comes up, I still can't help but continie to feel so much disappointment in how our day went. When we first reached out to the Greysolon, we had such incredible customer service from Jax. We were so excited and she made us feel so special and like this was exactly the place we were looking for. Well, the minute we locked in our down payment that customer service seemed to drop off a cliff as we were transferred from Jax to two other people. We were told Jax only deals with sales and that the other two were the "main coordinators". Truly, I only met these two once and that was at the food tasting event where my fiancé at the time and I were sat at the smallest table that couldn't even fit all the plates and dishes. The very kind food staff even said they were sorry and did not know why we were sat at such a small table and so far away from everyone. We were even forgotten about and by the time everyone else was getting dessert, we hadn't even eaten the meal yet. I told one of the coordinators about this and she said she'd tell the food staff but we ended up having to tell them instead who said none of them were told. Leading up to the wedding, it took leagues to get the coordinators to reply to us and we often had to call and email more than twice in order to get a response back. On the actual day of the wedding, it was chaos and I truly didn't get much time to enjoy our special day. First, they said the doors would be open but there were no signs or anyone to direct my bridesmaids. Ok, I can understand that. Then, when we arrived, I was expecting the nice brunch we paid for. It was there, but the coffee was cold and the scones were burnt yet undercooked inside. Needless to say, we didn't eat much of the food which was disappointing. Then, I tried to contact someone from Greysolon but was told by one of my bridesmaids a lady walked by and said the two coordinators don't work on the weekend.....ok? Where was this woman you ask? She apparently told my bridesmaid she'd be there by 10 but wasn't there until 1030. She briefly went over how to walk in and was snippy with us when we asked questions. She then said she was taking care of an additional wedding happening in the Moorish room and rushed off to see to them. At the time of lineup for the ceremony, I had to coordinate everyone because she wasn't there and she rushed in last minute just before I walked out with my parents. Then, she disappeared again and she didn't come back until we were eating when she tapped on my shoulder and said she was heading out.
So, overall, just very disappointing and would highly not recommend if you want to enjoy your wedding day. Hopefully they've changed but wanted to give my honest opinion after mulling it over for a year. Needless to say, I'd look somewhere...
Read moreIf you are looking for a space to host your wedding or other event, STOP YOUR SEARCH RIGHT NOW AND BOOK W/ GREYSOLON. I heard about the old Duluth Hotel through a book I had read about Glensheen. I wondered why I hadn't heard of this place. So, I Googled it to find that it was now, Greysolon by Blackwoods. Fast Forward to my, now husband, proposing in Duluth. I had been thinking about where we were going to find an affordable, as stress-less-as-possible-venue that was special and well-suited to my unique tastes. We happened upon the building and I said, we have to go in! A wedding was happening that day and we gawked for a moment at the Moorish Room space. I was immediately in love. If we could afford it, we were booking it. I thought, no way was it in our price range. I called Monday and spoke to Jax. She is so nice and helpful. Finding out that we could in fact afford a wedding on a SATURDAY, I booked the venue without a proper tour or looking at any other venues. This was our place and I never looked back. I am so beyond happy that I did that. Working with Korah was a dream. She answered my many emails and questions. The tasting was wonderful. The food on the day of the wedding was just as good, if not better, than the tasting. I was worried that the tasting would be better than the food served on the day, but that was NOT the case. Everything was phenomenal right down to the late night pizza and pretzel bar. Even the donut and water station was awesome. I wanted to hire aerialists and Korah helped me get approval from the building owner to allow them to perform in the lobby. Our day was positively magical and so us. Heidi and David were our day of people w/ Greysolon and they were awesome. Heidi got me a drink when I requested one early. The bridal suite is gorgeous. We got so many compliments from guests that saw the bridal suite and many people said it was the nicest wedding they'd seen right down to the bridal suite. Someone even said they'd only seen things like that in the movies! Thank you to the Greysolon team for all of your hard work. Truly, the day was perfect....
Read moreI can’t say enough praise about Jax and the Greysolon team. We ended up finding Greysolon after our initial venue was no longer able to accommodate our wedding due to Covid, and I truly believe we ended up right where we were supposed to be from the start. Jax was there every step of the way for us helping us to navigate the ever changing Covid guidelines along with the regular endless details of wedding planning. Jax made me feel constantly supported and despite the added Covid complications, still made planning our day and the execution of our day feel so special. The Greysolon team cares so deeply for each couple they work with and work tirelessly to make their vision come to life. After working so closely with Jax, I will honestly miss our planning phone calls! The service you get at Greysolon is not just a venue, it is a team of people who are there for you and more than willing to help with each step along the way. There was never a missed phone call or email. They had plan A-Z ready to go. They worked with all our vendors, making day of coordination one less thing I needed to worry about. They are eager to accommodate or adjust as needed (including multiple changes, just to end up back at the original plan). These are your people! The venue itself is stunning and provides an elegant, charming, and bright space full of architectural detail as a canvas. You hardly need any decor as the ballroom is a vision in itself. The bridal suite and men’s lounge area are both comfortable and ambient spaces for your wedding parties to get ready before showtime. This beautiful and historic building has many opportunities (inside and out!) for a multitude of photo backdrops for all your portrait, ceremony, and first look needs. Oh and the food was DELICIOUS! I can’t say enough positive things about this venue. I hope every bride and groom get the service, beauty, and intimacy that is a standard...
