I would come here every year with my family. It's such a special place to me. Ships come through this area from other great Lakes (Lakers) or from the ocean (Salties). They have the Maritime Museum with many exhibits. You can walk up to the different lighthouses. Many shops and restaurants all around. You can also walk over to the Vista Fleet and go on their boats to get a tour of the area. Always something to do. There are many hotels along this area. I would definitely recommend the Canal Park Brewery, Chachos taqueria, Old Chicago and Love Creamery for food. If you have kids, there are lots of family friendly businesses, including Adventure Zone.
