I made a reservation for my son’s birthday yesterday at his request. There were 10 of us in the party and it was his 21st birthday. When we arrived at the bartender was sitting on the bar eating M&Ms with his hands out of a bag and then serving drinks to us and other patrons. The reservation was early and it is a holiday so the place was nearly empty. When our party arrived, we moved to the hibachi area. From the beginning, they seem to not understand there were 10 of us not lying so everything Came out in nines. Nine soups, Nine salads… Etc.. From the beginning, it was clear that the Chef didn’t seem to know what he was doing keep in mind we were there for a birthday party and there were 10 of us. All the things you go to hibachi for he was not doing. He literally just stood in front of us saying nothing and cooked the food. As the meal went on, and other tables were set and other chefs came out doing the typical amusing, Chef tricks and engaging with their tables. We got increasingly annoyed. At one point, my assistant went outside to register a complaint. She was told that the manager was the same man who had been sitting on the bar eating M&Ms with his hands and serving drinks to people. when she registered her complaint, he said, didn’t we set you right away… To which she replied the restaurant was empty of course you did. We also had a reservation, so of course you did. At this point we were told that the chef that we were given was not really one of the chefs he was a cook from back in the kitchen Because they were shortstaffed. The so-called manager also said don’t worry we’re gonna sing happy birthday. We didn’t care about that because we already had something else to do after that included cake, etc. While we were still eating the food, he came out himself with a piece of cake, saying happy birthday and said it next to the hot hibachi in front of my son. Now, my best friend gets up to go out and have a conversation and not only does he insult her but he hands her for $10 tickets for a total of $40 off our next visit ( I would never go back and I would encourage everyone not to use this place for special occasions) . She told him we were coming back so he didn’t need them, but as soon as we walked out the door, she happened to look down before she threw them away only to discover that they were actually expired. Imagine that. We’ve been going to Taki for about four years. We won’t go again because of this one person. It wasn’t the chef’s fault. He was just doing what he was told, and he is not trained to be a chef out in the hibachi area. It wasn’t the servers fault. She was deeply apologetic and seemed mortified by this guy‘s behavior. The hostess… Same thing. Just the older man with the glasses who was tending, the Bar offered absolutely zero assistant or customer service. And in fact, laughed at the end when we stated that there were a couple of tables of two or three people not celebrating anything so if you had to send out and unskilled hibachi Chef, it should’ve been to them and not a large birthday party of 10. Also, they forced an 18%...
Read moreIt's sad because I'm not one to ever have to write a review and rarely do, but I couldn't let this one go by the way side. After driving about an hour to meet my family that's visiting from Europe and the the mid west, we wanted to try to eat a good meal at this Hybachi restaurant. The waitress took our orders after being seated at the table. The kids were very excited and enjoyed all of the tricks that the chef performed while cooking the food on the grill. I must say that the chef was amazing! After we finished eating and the waitress returned with our bills, there was a mix-up and /or misunderstanding with our bill. After going back and forth with her and not getting anywhere, she decided to go get her manager. My daughter tried very hard to explain the situation to the manager but he was very inconsiderate and just started to walk away as my daughter was talking to him. He was very unprofessional as a manager and acted as if he didn't care to hear anything she had to say. As a manager, I feel as though he handled this situation in a very poorly and unprofessional manner. He did not listen to my daughter at all. He ended up telling my daughter that if he was gonna make any adjustments to the bill, then she would have to give her food back to him! She had already packed up the To Go food up for her and my grand baby and placed them into carry out bags. My daughter looked at him surprisingly and asked him. Really, aren't you gonna throw this food away anyway? He told her, "Yes, I am!" I couldn't believe what I was witnessing from this manager! This is the first time that I've ever experienced anything like this at a restaurant in my life! This really upset me bc as a manager, he didn't put any effort whatsoever into listening to my daughter to try to resolve this situation to make sure that all parties were pleased. I thought that's what restaurant manages are supposed to do to ensure that the customers are satisfied so that they will come back and also tell others about their great experience. I was really disappointed because the manager took the To Go food away from my grandbaby that she didn't get a chance to eat! She was very upset in the car all the way home. How cruel can you be to a child! It was very disheartening for the young children at our table to witness this type of behavior from this manager, and even more sad for my family that traveled all the way from Europe and the mid west to experience this as well. This was our first time at this restaurant and definitely will be our last! It's very sad because I feel tas though this situation is very unfortunate and could have been resolved differently. I pray that this review will encourage change for the better with...
Read moreThe food & the service was amazing. Our waitress was so nice to us & the guy cooking our food was extremely nice as well. We will be back here again this is our new favorite hibachi spot.
UPDATED REVIEW (from 5 stars to 0 if i could) My family & I frequent this location quite often & we usually request to have Nino cook for us & we never once had a bad experience until recently. With that being said Saturday 5/21 my family & a few others came to enjoy hibachi dinner. Our waitress was nice although she forgot somethings we were not upset with her. The cook however gave us ton of attitude & told us that he was ready to go home. He cooked the food out of order, he threw the fried rice on our plates the table was a complete mess. The vegetables were inedible due to so much salt. My partner’s steak was raw & he didn’t want to cook it more. He was not listening to what we were asking for it was horrible. After he cooked he just left & didn’t even clean the grill. Everyone at the table was upset including people that weren’t even in our party. We asked to speak with the manager & he stated to us that he would “take 15% off the bill but he needed to speak with cook to see what happened first” SERIOUSLY? The waitress brought our receipts however it wasn’t discounted. We gave her the receipts back stating the 15% wasn’t taken off. She left with the receipts & when she came back the 15% was taken off but gratuity was added to everyone’s check. Another gentleman from our party was upset & wanted to speak with the manager again because he felt like the manager did not handle the situation with integrity. The manager came back & was extremely hostile towards us because we didn’t like the way we were treated & we expressed that. He told us “Well you all can give your food back & not pay for anything” we ended up leaving the food & a few other from the other party were upset & threw the food (i don’t condone violence) so i did ask them not to do that however I did let the manager know that it’s a terrible shame that we were treated this way because we frequent this place quite often. We always bring new ppl with us & we always recommend this place because the food was good. & we never were treated bad. After Saturday I would not set foot in this place again. Management or Owner teach all your cooks, managers & waitresses to be kind. At the end of the day customers are what makes the business successful. Although we had to give our food back We still tipped...
