Read moreThis review is a long time coming for two reasons. First, I am now sticking to a reliable pattern in my reviews now: food/drink, service, ambiance (pronounce that with an outrageous French accent, or please stop reading), and the X factor (that intangible that compels you to return). Second, I come here weekly. WEEKLY SON! For a year now! And for some reason, I have neglected reviewing them. And I suck for that. Seriously.
Food/drink: minus one star for flour tortilla only "Taco Tuesday". If you say Taco Tuesday, they better be street tacos (what I call actual tacos). Otherwise, this is a pretty standard sports bar and sports bar stuff is served. Deep fried and breaded. A coma-inducing grease-fest made fresh to order. The wings are some of the best in the (Dunwoody) city. And if you ask REEEEEEAL nice, you can get em grilled. How cool is that???
Service - Rafa is awesome behind the bar. Whether you are a noob or a regular, he takes good care of you. And that's rare in the neighborhood bar scene. You're either a regular, or you're nobody. The Bird is a nice exception to this rule.
Ambiance - again, standard sports bar. A bajillion TV's, lots of bar space, bar-olympic games like golden tee and bankshots. But.....but. If you're an Atlanta United fan, THIS IS YOUR BAR!!! All the games, all the time! And there's generally a loyal soccer (futbol) group here all the time. Singing, drinking, the whole nine. If you enjoy soccer, you need this in your life. You're welcome.
X-factor - this place is a blast! It's a weird convergence of local bar denizens, after hours business folk (like me), travelers and soccer fans. The service is great; they treat everyone like they are the first customer of the day. If you're a social drinker, you'll love this place. I enjoy every visit.
Thanks...
Read moreSo, my first time here was on accident. I had been in the Atlanta area working for about 2 months and would always go to the mid town area because that's all I knew, but my hotel was in Dunwoody. I was tired of traveling just to get a good drink and food so I decided to just get in my rental and drive down the street. I saw a Walmart and that was a plus, but before I could get there I saw this little place in the corner and was sports bar. I was like Oh Yeaahh!! I walked in and was immediately greeted. I sat at the bar and of course didn't know a soul. I got a drink and just people watched. I saw that everyone was laughing and having a good time. I can tell that these folk knew each other for a long time, so I kind of felt out of place, but after a few Tropicalia's, I loosened up. I walked over to the pool table and met these two dude, I'll just call them Mr. A and Mr. J. They greeted me and invited me to play, since then we have became very good friends and ALL of the bartenders are AWESOME. The vibe is great and the food is supremely groovy. Every time I'm in the area, I frequent The Bird and have met many, many good people and friends that will last a lifetime. Once of the best places I've been too and I will be back very soon. If you're looking for some great food, great people and great staff, this is the place to go to. "I'm in Looooooooove,...
