Stopped at this location as it was Father’s Day and the hubs was leaning towards Asian cuisine but not looking for prices that would break our pocket or be all hype and no quality.
This location is relatively new; as I no longer in the area I could not say how new it is. Hubby spotted it and decided that’s where we would dine. I was not sure it was opened, as the inside lights were not overly bright and it was not busy. Going in, the hostess greeted us in a welcoming tone; a soft music in the background created the perfect ambiance.
I was very grateful that were not rushed through our dining experience. The server and hostess were quiet attentive. Two other tables had guests but it was not overly busy. The hostess asked for our beverage of choice and provide us with menus. They have chef menu, wine/beverage menu and a general one that carries an array of meals (appetizer-desserts). The hostess checked in on us to see if we were ready to place our order; note careful she was not pushy or made us feel as though we were a bother or taking too long to decide. We placed our order and she saw I was undecided and queued if I wanted to add anything else. Told her I wanted to keep a menu and was considering other items. She informed me that was no issue.
Ordered the pork bao appetizer. Hubby order the pork ribs with osmanthus sugar, and we shared the spicy dry pot beef served with steamed white rice. 10.5 out 10 with an exception to the rice. The texture and dryness was not I am used to when it comes to Asian rice regardless of which group of Asians prepare it. Nonetheless the ribs were melt in your mouth and the bones could be chewed up and swallowed. How ever this pork rib was prepared I can tell you it is heavenly. Now it was a bit salty but that is based solely on preference and my own health restrictions that I normally follow. Will not take points off for that.
The pork bao was hot, fresh and delicious. The should serve it with a side of osmanthus sugar. I added it to mine and it was divine!! Our server seemed to know the right intervals to check on us and refresh our water glasses. This was refreshing as I did not have to try to search around or true to make eye contact in order to get some help. Spice is right level of spicy. Service was exceptional. I will return to try the pork belly (from the Caribbean and it is my least favorite food but it may be different here 😀) and rice mochi. I recommend anyone in and around the area try this restaurant out. It may be different in a bush day but I can say the hostess and server were attentive, polite and provided much of the hospitality that is missing in the service...
Read moreDecided to come here because i was in the area and I was craving actual Asian food. I has very happy to see Wok Provisions pop up on my search results. I had the mapo tofu lunch special. It came with a choice of hot & sour soup or egg drop soup, and steamed rice. The mapo tofu itself wasn't spicy at all. It has a tinge of mala but for me it wasn't enough. Nevertheless, the dish was still flavorful. I also ordered pan fried dumplings with cabbage and chicken. It has a very nice flavor. You need to eat it while it's still hot. The black vinegar and soy sauce dipping sauce mix was a nice touch. I went for lunch on a Friday and though the restaurant wasn't packed, there were a lot of customers dining in. You can also hear the chopping and cooking from the kitchen. I believe the mapo tofu lunch was $10.50 and $9 for the dumplings and they give you 6 pieces. It came with that crusty "skirt" like Japanese gyozas. The restaurant is in the same shopping plaza as Walmart, next to UPSP and Poke Dunwoody. Its good to see more Asian restaurants in the area. You have a variety of places to eat to choose from. I am looking forward to my next visit and will try their noodles this time. The pictures and reviews were amazing. I hope to have the same experience the next time I come in. The waitstaff was also pleasant and asked a few times if...
Read moreI had a pretty good experience here. We opted for dine it since the place was empty. Started with the wonton soup and soup dumplings. The wonton soup was really good. The soup dumplings were great. Would definitely recommend both as a starter. Got the twice fried pork. It was pretty standard. I wouldn't say there was anything too special about it. Now the coconut curry fish... i originally ordered coconut curry chicken. They were really nice about getting it taken care of but i no issues with just trying the fish so I kept the dish. Best decision i could have made. THAT COCONUT FISH CURRY WAS SPECTACULAR. By far my favorite dish. The fish was cooked to perfection and didn't taste like oil and the curry was chefs kiss perfection.
We ended up getting the dessert the which was fried rice cakes and I personally didn't like it. The texture kind of turns to mush and it tastes like oil so I wouldn't recommend. I do think they make their own rice cakes though. It would be nice if there were the normal steamed rice cakes with dipping sauce instead of frying them since the rice cake flavor gets lost. This was actually on the house so even though we didn't like them, the gesture itself was really nice.
All in all, I'll be back. We used to drive to Canton cooks to get good chinese food so its great that dunwoody finally has a place...
