I’m a sashimi lover and have had really great sashimi in NYC, San Diego, LA, SF and Boston. For an Atlanta Chain made to go restaurant this place is pretty freaking great. It was my first time trying a Poke Bowl, and I’m so glad I finally decided to try it. They had come out with a new kale soba noodle bowl. Considering I’m a novice poke bowl lover you can take this review with a grain of furikake. Everyone was super ready to take my order I had to tell each associate to give me some time to read through everything and learn how to order correctly. Thank God for the prepared dish options. The menu is extensive with a lot of choices of different proteins and sides and three suggested size bowls. Small, medium and large amounts. There is the option to go a la carte as well. Being the novice I decided to go with the suggested pre arranged bowls. I got the (small) Kale Noodle Poke bowl which comes with Spicy Tuna, shrimp and imitation crab meat. I don’t like imitation crab meat so I 86ed it and asked for more cucumbers and no problem! 😀 I got the small size because I wasn’t terribly hungry and it didn’t look like much food but then I started eating and eating. I had to pace myself or my food would be gone in minutes. The noodles had been tossed in sesame oil a bit much and slightly over cooked but the width of the soba noodles were just right not too thick not too thin. They were delicious and had very little kale taste! Since everything is made to order you can tell them to go easy on the sesame oil or sauces.
Every ingredient was well portioned, noodles not too much, plenty of greens (spring mix) and cucumbers super fresh, and plant proteins like edamame. And a light touch of green onions, hate it when green onions over power a dish. The flavors of the shoya sauce melded really well and I was comfortably full at the end. Quick assembly and when I found my noodles a little too oily for my taste I asked for rice vinegar and they gave me a whole cup! When they gave me the vinegar the guy even owned up to the fact their noodles were slightly over cooked that day and apologized for it. But I didn’t mind it as much. Wish they used and served organic salad greens and other organic food or spices.
The freshness of the fish is usually what matters most. The spicy tuna was fresh and not just spicy, it was actually freshly marinated. I don’t know who the owner is but this is excellent customer service for a small chain restaurant, fresh food and a little pricey for lunch for a small size bowl but totally worth it. Super clean too and the atmosphere is like a lunch workday place. I’m a little sensitive to noise so the music was a little loud for me but good beats and gave a good NYC bar vibe. You could still have a conversation and hear your co-worker. I’ve been pokéd and will...
Read moreUpdated after going here 2 years, not as often, but they still have the secret touch! Fresh seafood, manager/owner very personable and will try and remember every order of regulars. Really nice guy that aims to please. These guys and girls will make whatever you want, however you want it without any trouble whatsoever. Their seafood is great and their spicy tuna is my absolute favorite. Never would I have been interested in raw/hot tuna, but it’s the perfect texture and not chunky consistency. Great with brown rice, furikake, and masago in a large container. I get veggies and sauce in a separate container so I can add cucumbers and sweet onions with add a little sweet chili and Ponzu sauces. Always ask for extra veggies because I only get two and no salads. So get it how you like it!I mix the rice and tuna and add the wet veggies as needed - this way it doesn’t get soggy and stays fresh. A large bowl lasts for lunch/dinner/and next day lunch. Their boba tea is amazing! There are so many things, but this meal poke...
Read morewas in the area and wanted sushi for dinner. I saw the Poke Bar on Google, and it had great reviews. I was greeted immediately and didn't have to wait to place my order.
All the options on the menu looked delicious, but I picked #1, the fire cracker. I requested Wasabi mayo instead of spicy mayo and it definitely added a kick to the meal. The tuna was very fresh and the toppings were all very flavorful. I do wish there was more tuna in the bowl, since it didn't seem like a lot compared to the amount of rice and mixed greens I had. Overall, I'd definitely be back again...
