It's been a few years since I have been to the Griddle. A great local joint for breakfast. I won a gift card a few years ago and we finally found time to use it today.
It was slightly busy but we found a couple spots at the bar. Andrew took care of us today. He got us started with some water and our juices. I got fresh orange juice and the husband got apple. The fresh orange juice was so good! It was hard not to drink the whole glass at one time. It was delicious!
For brunch I got the gravy train potatoes with sourdough toast. Husband got the croissant breakfast sandwich. Our food seemed like it took a bit longer than normal to be prepared. We had a family sit next to us after we ordered and they got their food at the same time. I don't know what the delay was but it reflected in the food.
My plate looked good. I was a little thrown off at the potion size. My husband got a side of hashbrowns with his breakfast sandwich and it was the same amount as mine. As the main portion of my meal it was disappointing. My potatoes and gravy were also cold. I'm sure it was sitting while my eggs were getting worked on. I did send my plate back due to temp. The chef did correct my meal and prepared a fresh plate. It was night and day between the old and fresh plate in temperature. The fresh plate was good. The hashbrowns were crispy topped with bacon, sausage and gravy. I did enjoy the sweetness of the onions.
Even though I was a little disappointed over size portions and my initial plate being cold, I did appreciate the service Andrew gave and the chef correcting my plate. I also appreciate this joint for fundraising all year for causes like Walk Ms and the Speedy foundation. Multiple Sclerosis and Suicide prevention are two things that are very dear to my heart. If you're looking for a good local joint to support that also gives back to our community, you should definitely hit up...
Read moreMy wife and I came in to have breakfast on 9/20/20 and when our food came, the bread on the french toast was old and so hard that it couldn't be cut. When we did finally go to take a bite, it was extremely cold and not fully cooked. The egg was milky and cold. When we were able to get someone to stop at our table, we told him and the manager came out. The manager told us that he had all brand new cooks and that they forgot to turn on the heat lamps and that they didn't have the griddle all the way up. He then took away the dish and brought back the breakfast, but it was even worse than the first time and was still cold and very undercooked. He didn't wait long enough for the griddle to heat up. Cold and undercooked.
We told the waitress that it was still bad and she told us that we had to be charged no matter what since the manager had re-ordered it. He wasn't taking any part of it off. The food was very poor quality and extremely cold. It was so nasty that we couldn't eat it. I'm sorry that the cooks forgot to do their job but it shouldn't be taken out on the customers and the manager was extremely unprofessional and he did not come back out so we could show him the quality of the food. It's obvious that the company doesn't have any integrity and the staff only care about making money instead of caring about the customers.
We will go back to Bardenay's across the street for breakfast instead where the cooks know what they're doing and know how to turn on heat lamps and turn up their griddle before they start cooking. We will never come back to...
Read moreThe Griddle was a nice surprise for our family. We were there at noon on a Thursday and the guest count was light so we got seated right away. We've tried to eat there after church on Sunday and the wait is quite long so we have moved on to other places. Honestly, breakfast on Sundays around Eagle are all crowded so it's to be eclectic to wait. Thursday was a great time and we'll definitely be repeat customers.
The atmosphere... it was clean, the decor was cute with neat stained glass art hanging, the tables were spaces well so I didn’t feel like we were joining our neighbors for the meal.
The food... we really enjoyed our food. They are open until 2pm, so they serve lunch. However, we chose to pick from the breakfast menu. The pecan crusted French toast was really yummy. The carnitas Benedict with chipotle hollandaise was very tasty. I enjoyed that on a freshly made biscuit instead of English muffin, which I think was a good choice. My husband had the California Benedict with hearty portions of avocado, bacon and tomato. He enjoyed that. The hashbrowns were crisp on the outside, the way I like them. I ordered them that way, so I'm not sure how they usually cook them. I've been disappointed with hashbrowns at other places, so now I make sure to ask for them more crispy.
The service... all of the service staff was very pleasant and attentive. Waters and coffee were always full, which I appreciate.
Overall, it was a great experience. We'll be returning for sure to try other menu options. Hope this was helpful...
