Okay, are you sitting down? This first-time dining experience for my wife and I was a very pleasant and delicious one. We will definitely be returning. We heard about Kosta's from a Greek coworker who raved about the menu, so we went for dinner. Amazing to say the least.
From our excellent waitress Breeanna who explained the specials and made recommendations to the excellent dishes to prompt table service, we were not disappointed.
We started off with an appetizer of fried calamari (one of the best I've had in decades) and for our main courses, ordered the Sea Bass and Chicken and Potatoes. Each dish exceeded expectations. Fresh, well seasoned, and large portioned dishes left us satisfied and happy. The chicken and rice soup that came included was light, citrusy, and very favorable. The salad was super fresh with grape cherries that were sweet and bursting with flavor.
The atmosphere is Greek Island tavern style, quaint and family run, hence the friendly setting and attention on the customer. It reminded me of my time I visited Crete in the early 90s where I couldn't find a bad meal if I tried.

Read moreMy wife, 13 month old son, and I, are staying in the Boise area for a few weeks, and without exception take a date-night out weekly; Kosta's Taverna was our choice, as we are lovers of Greek food. My wife and I both ordered the pasticho ("Greek lasagna", essentially, for those who've never heard of it... try it! You'll never look at classic Italian lasagna the same again). We also ordered a few appetizers and a desert, but unfortunately my memory fails me which ones exactly. Everything was superb, cooked perfectly. I think we were even quietly moaning with every bite, and I had to catch myself, lest we be a spectacle.
The service was probably the best I've ever received eating out, and I've eaten at hundreds of restaurants in my life. Ashley was our server. She was warm, very friendly, courteous, humorous, respectful, and seemed completely authentic and genuine (some of course go through the motions, some better than others, but Ashley was a bar far above).
When we visit again, whenever that is, we will 100% revisit Kosta's Taverna. I don't really do reviews... not by nature anyway, but I felt morally compelled to share our...
Read moreNicely decorated Greek restaurant with Crete/Greek menu. Humus was below average, but everything else we tried was very tasty. When we went in, only one table was full, and we were the second table they served. There was no queue of customers waiting outside. The reason I am giving 3 stars for the restaurant is the waiters who bugged us every 5 minutes with questions such as if we wanted to order deserts, if we wanted anything to be put in bags, if they could take away any of the dishes that were clearly full. They kept on coming every few minutes. I asked them if they were closing, and they said no, and we could take all the time we needed, but they did not stop till we finally left. It was a very uncomfortable experience, and I told the waitress that she was making us nervous each time she wanted to take away our full dishes. It was super awkward. I was never rushed out of a restaurant on any of the islands. It did not feel like Greek hospitality to me. Maybe it was a one-off case. However, it did ruin...
