Read great reviews from people at Nextdoor so I had to check it out.

Like all Mexican restaurants we got the complimentary chips and salsa which seemed fresh and plentiful so that left me with a good feeling for the entrees.

I ordered the Fajitas Texanas (Steak, chicken and shrimp) for 2 at $39.99. Another person ordered the Fajitas Steak for $22.99.

Well, I expected at least double the food for $39.99 which Is why I ordered it. Boy I was wrong. Sure, we got 2 servings of beans, rice and lettuce – cheap stuff, but we got the same amount of meat on the skillet as the person who ordered just the Steak Fajitas. If you are going to pay close to double the price you’d expect larger portions, but we didn’t. Big disappointment. Management did not meet expectations so they should take this option off the menu.

Not only that, but the meat/ veggies were over cooked as the chef left everything on the grill way too long as the grease oozed out. On the other hand, the steak fajitas were cooked to perfection with crisp peppers not limp and little grease. So, the kitchen can cook food correctly, but they didn’t in our case.

I told the manager and got no response. Nothing was fixed or apologized for.

At another Mexican place we got exactly double the skillet for 2 which is what you’d expect. That’s 6 inches high of food. You don’t forget that!

So, for over $60 we got 2 entrees. One good and one bad. We still left a 20% tip as the service was attentive and quick. Not the waiter’s fault.

The restaurant had a chance to correct the mistakes but refused to. Given that there are better alternatives, we’re not...

I walked in and there was nobody at the counter. For about 5 minutes, I stood there waiting for service. Some of the waiters noticed me at the counter, but no one came up to help. Eventually, I sat down and waited some more. A family of three came in, stood at the counter, then sat down and waited with me for about 2 minutes. Finally, a waiter came up to help, but completely ignored my presence. Instead, he sat the family of three and didn’t even acknowledge me being there, waiting to pick up my order. Then, a couple came in and they were immediately sat. My existence was completely disregarded. Nobody asked me if I was helped or needed any help. A waiter came to the counter, looked at me, and didn’t say a word. Not sure if it was about race, as I am black, or pure ignorance. Either way, not going back and don’t think anyone should entertain this place and its weird energy. In my eyes, that was racism. I was the first to walk through the door, and the last to get helped, after the other families (who weren’t black). Take my experience with a grain of...

We went to celebrate a birthday. After being seated, we ordered 2 drinks with a waiter. A few minutes later a different waiter came to take our order but we were not ready. A third waiter then approached and asked us if we were ready to order, but we asked for our drinks. 25 minutes passed with no drinks. We ordered our food and one entrée arrived. Still no drinks and waiting on the second entrée I went in search of our waiter. The bartender said the drinks were not ordered. I returned to the table and waited until a server came. When the second entrée was delivered we asked for drinks again. 40 minutes later our drinks arrived. Every few minutes someone came to ask if everything was OK. This happened so many times it was difficult to eat. Things were not ok. Management paid no attention to us until we were leaving and I stopped to let them know the experience was ruined due to the service we received. At that point, after the bill was paid, they offered to comp 1 drink. A birthday celebration with ax friend was...

Randomly ate here for dinner while I was working in the area and I was blown away by the quality of the food and service. I’m really looking forward to traveling in this area again JUST so that I can come back here and try more items on the menu. We got a grilled chicken salad and shrimp tacos. I would recommend either one to anyone visiting. I think you’ll get more bang for your buck by getting a traditional style dish instead of a salad (as pictured). They were both very good but I think I’m going to get tacos or a a fajita next time. The river and beans just looked perfect. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was just so pleasant and authentic. Cant recommend this place enough!

I mean the food is very good but they are a penny wise pound foolish. To pay 21 dollars for fajitas and get three wraps is nothing less than an absolute tragedy. The amount of meat you get can't possibly even fit into three shells so I'm super curious if they have ever actually eaten the meal or they are in fact that cheap that they want you to have half the meat left over and no shells. Absolute waste of half the meat because they want to save 4 cents on a couple more shells. Bad business. After stuffing each shell completely, going outside my comfortable meat to shell ratio, in an effort to stretch the shells this is what I'm left with :

What a wonderful Mexican Restaurant and Cantina. I’ve been there several times with friends and/or family, and each time everyone has been happy with their meal, the service and the ambiance. Everything I’ve ordered there has been fantastic, especially their fajitas. With all the wood and tiled surfaces, there aren’t many surfaces that could absorb the noise from the crowd, but it is more lively than annoying. I’d recommend making reservations, especially on the weekends. The people there, including the managers are very nice to deal with. Overall, Rey Azteca is a great place to go if you are in the mood for delicious Mexican food.
