Osaka Japanese Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse Eden Prairie — Restaurant in Eden Prairie

I have been here twice now and both times have been a poor experience. Even with calling ahead for a hibachi dinner for 4, we still waited about 20 minutes for a table. We waited at the bar for those 20 minutes and no one was at the bar to offer us drinks. After being seated, and remembering my last experience ordering sushi (room temperature sub par sushi), I opted for a vegetable hibachi which was average to below average.

We ordered hot saki which was served in clear plastic shot glasses, one which was cracked and leaked saki. While waiting for the chef at the hibachi table, I was facing the light switch panel and control panel on the wall which controlled the stove tops for the hibachi and noticed them absolutely filthy. I have never seen something so incredibly dirty at a restaurant before. I wish I was exaggerating when I say that the coating on the panels was peeling off and blackened because of all of the accumulated oil and dirt from the chefs touching it daily with it not being cleaned. The floor was sticky, the menus dirty, a lot of dust accumulated on decorations, and the restaurant was clearly in a state of disrepair and unkempt. The Happy Birthday song blasting on the speaker every few minutes. They pass around a paper mache Japanese styled head for every birthday-celebrating individual to put on their heads while the overhead speaker is playing a happy birthday song and it is clearly not cleaned (I watched the head get passed from table to table multiple times). I booked a reservation for my birthday dinner, we arrived a few minutes late, seven to be exact. Our table had to be given away since they were very busy so we ended up having to wait an extra 25 minutes. Once we were led to our table, it dawned on me that if you reserve, you get the hibachi side automatically. So we sat down, ordered our drinks, received them and proceeded to order our meals. From then, it was merely a wait for our meals to get prepped for cooking.

Once our chef arrived, two of us were promptly sprayed with sake in the mouth. Me and one other from another group (If you book small enough you might be grouped with another pack of people [Covid-19 was still enforced respectfully with humor]) I only got one mouthful whilst the other groups guy proceeded to hand-motion give me more and had at least five or six swallows, truly impressive, I learned that you can swallow with an open mouth and breathe.

From then, the show for cooking started. We all received extra portions from the chef and he had fun tossing veggies to us for us to catch in our mouths. He also had an amazing sense of humor and had a joke to crack at every twist and turn. I like to tell others who haven't yet had the joy of hibachi that it is an experience, not dining, that's worth trying at least once.

Well had been awhile since i had hibachi from this place. Very disappointing. Waitress never came back after giving us water and taking order. Was told to come in ended up sitting for a hour only to get a cook that came out cooked every course of food at the same time. I had never seen anyone cook several orders of chicken diced up in a pile this is chicken for a side not fried rice basically 1 of the best parts i thought thought would atleast be the noodles cause the shrimp ended up over cooked rubber but no it too was a let down everything ended up very bland tasting with lots of oil. Hour wait time after seated then 18 mins to cook 8 ppls food. Asked chef for more yummy sauce he never replied making us wait till he finished off the last bit of vegetables that too looked like they hardly cooked cause they sat in a pile of to the side whole time only really put it in the center of the grill for a tiny amount of time with little steam lol guy was in a huge rush ignoring any qaulity.. never thought I'd pay this much money for food and get McDonald's lvl of sevice. would love...
