You know that inner feeling sometimes when you get some work done on something that tells you maybe this is not the right place? Well, I ignore that for the most part, thinking it's just me.
I brought my Note 5 in for a battery change, and was told it might be an hour or so to get it done. Okay. I went next door to Caribou for that time. It was a spare phone, so I still had my active phone with me. I got a call asking me to come over to take a look at some damage that had occurred just then to the upper part of the phone. I looked at it, and said that it'll be in a case, so "I guess" it's going to be fine. Then, a while later, I got another call saying that they ran into some difficulty, and will need to hold the phone for a day, so a more experienced tech can handle it.
Okay. Now, I'm very glad I have my active phone with me. I didn't get a call the next day. I didn't get a call the day after. I called them halfway through the following day, and was told that it's ready to be picked up. All is well. Great!
I arrived about 5p, and was handed the phone. 4% charge. I asked why is the battery so low; that's what I brought it in for. They said to just charge it fully when I get home. They come that way, they said. They could have charged it after they finished the job, since I called about Noon that day. They may have had it ready for at least a day.
I charged it last night, and it sat overnight. It is now down to 60% or so. Hmm. Not sure about that feeling, again. I don't have any way to tell if they really did change the battery, or not, but this is sort-of acting the way the old battery did. However, IF they changed it, I am hoping that the battery starts acting ok. After all, replacing a 2-something year old battery should show an improvement. Right? We'll see.
Customer service in this case, was sketchy.
Part 2: After a couple days of attempting to get the phone with the "New" battery to charge up, I decided to take it back, and explain the situation. The service guy said that the battery must have been bad. He said that they will change it for me, but they didn't have a new battery right now. In the morning he would stop by another store and pick it up. I asked if they could make the effort to charge it and test it out, before I pick it up. The first battery had only 4% charge on it when he handed it to me. Having me do all the field testing was a bad idea. That was Thursday, at 5p. It's now Sunday morning, and I haven't heard back from them. I'll stop by after I get off...

Long version: I brought my Samsung Galaxy S6 in for a simple repair of the charging port. When I brought my phone in, the back glass was broken but was covered in a sticker and it has held firm for at least 2 years.
I was quoted $99.99 which was expensive but I had dealt with wireless charging for awhile and wanted to be able to plug my phone in. I was told the turnaround time for the repair would be 1-1.5 hours.
I returned after 1.25 hours to be told they needed another 20 minutes. I left and returned a half hour later. Still not done. After another 45 minutes, I got my phone handed back to me. The sticker I had on the back of the phone was shredded. The technician said that it will only get worse and walked away. The back glass could be literally pealed off the back of the phone. They had a new back glass in stock so I paid an additional $40 to replace the back glass. I would not have brought in the phone if I knew I was going to need to replace the back glass and the port.
I left the store and took a look at my phone, on the front of the phone it appeared as though the color on the phone had pealed away from the front glass. I walked back in the store and talked to the technician again. He said that this happens when the phones are exposed to moisture and then are soldered. He then pulled out his phone and showed me his and said that he has had to replace the charging port 3 times on his phone (which was a newer model). This caused me to lose faith that the repair will last. I asked what he can do about the phone now that it looks like trash. He said he could offer a replacement screen for $120 but wouldn't do anything else. My home button is also very loose and the phone now rattles when it vibrates.
Awful repairs all around. Bad customer service. I would have rather spent my $140 toward a new phone than deal with this shop. I will never return and I will share my experience with others. Feel free to contact me with any questions about...
Read moreThursday May 1st at 3:40 Pm. I have been to this store time and time again. I love the guys who have always helped me. I had left a message with no call back so on Thursday May 1st at 3:40 I called. I asked if they would order a screen protector for me and give me a call when it is in. I have done it many many times. Today I dealt with a person who absolutely positively was the most impossible person ever at this store. The last time I was in a girl helped me, she put the screen cover on full of air bubbles and said " they will flush out on their own - they never did. I never complained but she went on a mission to basically tell me I needed to order my own screen at home and put it on myself. Well I suck at that as do many people. I prefer to have them do it. I pay for it and the guys have always put it on perfectly. When I called Thursday I am somewhat sure I had the same person. Again went on a diatribe about how I need to do this myself - I very politely explained I pay them and they do it so much better and have done it for me 7 or 8 times. It is not free. This person just continued to basically in so many words tell me to not do business there - it was the weirdest interaction I have ever had. After 4 times explaining I would prefer to do it through them and pay them - again it started all over and ended with " we won't order anything until you have paid for it first". " You understand if you don't come over here and pay we will not order it at all - if you don't pay first it will never be ordered and by the way we won't order anything for at least a month from now so you should do it yourself" Again if there were ever a way to tell a customer " don't come here we do not want your business" this was it. So I now am trying to find a store farther away for me and a huge inconvenience to give my business to. My office is also working on it. So very disappointed as I have sent friends and family to this store many...
