Last night, I went to the Champ’s in Eden Prairie, MN. This was my first ever visit to a Champ’s and my fiancé and I had chosen to try out Champ’s because they were having live music play out on their patio. We arrived a little after 8:30pm and we were seated on the patio in a quick manner and the band started playing after their break shortly after. Our first waitress came over in a timely fashion and took our drink order. After a quick wait, she brought out the correct drinks to us and then left without taking our order. Our experience quickly went downhill from there. After an extended wait, a new waiter finally came over to help us. We placed our food order with him and in addition to our original pops, my fiancé ordered an alcoholic beverage. I ordered the sirloin with a side salad and waffle fries and my fiancé ordered the chicken and shrimp fajita with sweet potato waffle fries. Again, after a wait, my salad was brought out by a new waitress, possibly just a food runner, but then she quickly left. We had not been given any silverware so I had to wait another five plus minutes before a server brought out my fiancés beverage so that I could ask for some. When our food arrived, again with a totally new waiter brining our food out to us, he asked us if we needed anything else. I asked for some ketchup to go with our fries and he said he would bring some right out. After a few minutes, our original waiter who took our food order checked in with us to make sure everything was going okay. I did not ask for ketchup again as I thought it was being taken care of but we did ask for drink refills since my beverage had not been refilled yet after being empty for quite some time. Our drink refills were eventually brought out, but the ketchup never came. We did not see another waiter or waitress again until long after we had finished our meals. Our waiter who we had ordered our food with checked in with us and my fiancé asked for a box for our leftovers. Again, after a long wait, the waiter brought out a box, however first he brought it to the wrong table. My fiancé already had his card ready to go and handed it to the waiter right then so that we would not have to undergo another long wait for him to go and get out bill and then take our card. He ran the card and brought us our receipt and then left. We boxed our leftovers, finished paying, and then got up to leave. We ran into him as we were leaving and he did tell us to have a good evening. We were going to stop at the front greeter by the door and ask to speak with a manager right there, however there was no one at the door station. The band that was playing was nice and the food was very good, however, I have never had such bad service. A normal dinner takes us 30-45 minutes or so from start to finish. We were there over an hour and a half with how much waiting we had to do. While I liked the food, I’m not sure if I’d be willing to return to a Champ’s after...
Read moreTonight, my friend and my wife visited Champps in Eden prairie. It would have been a nice experience, however our waitress, Rose made it an exceptional experience.
For someone much younger than myself, I am used to a bit less in the customer service area. Rose on the other hand greatly exceeded all of our expectations. She was so good at our job that as soon as we were finishing a water or beer, she was setting the next one we had asked for down on to the table. The food came very quickly. (Thank you to all of you who were involved)
Rose had such a fun personality that I finally had to ask her name because I knew this was one of those times I needed to write a positive review. I hope in some way it conveys what a pleasure it was to have someone so good at their job serving us.
Rose, thank you. You are an asset to the Champps team. I hope your schooling next year is as fantastic as our service was tonight. Your work ethic is greatly appreciated by those of us that remember when the customer came first.
Management, thank you for Rose. She is young, but also incredible at her job She is a model of exactly what I would be looking for if I ran Champps. People who make the company look so good.
Thanks also to the other staff behind the scenes that were providing her with the drinks and food so quickly that helped her look so good. You did a fantastic job. Everything was...
Read moreNobody took our drink order for 15 minutes the drinks came out and it was like whatever it’s Friday the waitress left and came back 15 minutes later to get our food in 40 min later our food came back bone cold. First they gave us our stale old appetizer to which the waitress said “oh you just got those” 10 minutes later my burger came out cold my fries where piping hot I worked at a restaurant and know the trick, if the food sits forever just throw out the old fries and put on new ones so they think the meal is fresh. It’s a waiter trick used when they were too busy in the cooler hitting the blinker or smoking cigarettes to give out the finished food. It was clearly done at the same time. Came back 30 minutes later with a box and I pulled out my card, she ran off. Came back 30 minutes later with the pay thing, the last 30 minutes I had been staring at my bone cold burger I took two bites out of. The pay thing she set on the table and stared at my brother who opted out of tipping, she loudly said ouch then stared me down to pressure me into tipping. I didn’t yield and tipped $0.48 and left without making eye contact. It was the single most awkward dinning experience of my life, and we were either ignored or forgotten about after each interaction to the point we spent 80 bucks on food to cold to eat. My first experience at champs was great, I know it was Friday...
