We are a foodie couple with successful professional careers, visiting Edgartown on a regular basis. We have been to many of the best restaurants not just in Edgartown but in other places around the world through our travels. Based on the reviews, we had high hopes for Chesca’s as well. After checking in with the hostess, who took our name and phone number (shockingly we were in their contacts), we were sent to wait on the patio and were offered a drink menu, which we thought was a nice touch. After this point, we were rudely ignored by the cocktail waitress for about 30 minutes. Other guests arriving later, waiting on the patio for their table were served cocktails by same waitress much sooner. She even refused to acknowledge us until my husband had to finally flag her on a not large patio by any means, where you really could see everybody. We have noticed that all other bigger parties arriving after us were now already seated in the restaurant. At this point the cocktail waitress came by again, and asked if we wanted another drink. We politely said that we prefer to just wait for our table. The waitress at this time gave us our check, which was surprising. Usually when you have to wait and are offered drinks, restaurants inform you up front, if the bar bill is separate. After waiting for over an hour, another restaurant called us where we were previously waitlisted, so we paid for the drinks, but since we weren’t sure if the other place would still have our table by the time we got there, we never declined our table reservation at Chesca’s. Later in the evening we realized that Chesca’s ultimately never called us to seat us at a table. Thankfully we didn’t end up waiting on their patio the rest of the evening and had a place to dine at. Only giving 2 stars for the quality of cocktails. Service...
Read moreNot sure how this restaurant rates so high. From the time we entered I was skeptical of what our experience would be like. It was NOT good. It was warm where they sat us, but as we were sat, there was a portable cooling machine blowing air on our table. Not sure why it was hot in the restaurant but the blowing air was uncomfortable from where we sat. The soups we ordered were not good, the white bean soup was more like a vegetable soup, but very little beans were present. The clam chowder was thick and didn’t have much in the way of potatoes or clams. We then waited for 1 hour for menu items that should have taken a chef 15 minutes to prepare, I.e., the roasted cod and Marsala chicken. We watched as other tables with parties of five or more, who were sat ten minutes after we received our soup got their entire meal and nearly completed them before we received our meal. The worst is when the waiter or waitress has to come to the table to say our “meal will be out soon”, three times. The food was mediocre. The manager came over mumbled something under his mask and could have cared less while he apologized for the kitchens delay. There was no delay in the table of five who received their meal well ahead of ours. The waitress seemed clueless. The manager was callous and very unconcerned with our very poor experience. When you’re sitting, waiting for your food, you tend to start looking around and seeing the cleanliness of a restaurant. Seemed dirty and dinghy, pictures on the wall were cheap and crooked. No pride whatsoever. Will never go to this “restaurant” again. Apologies don’t help when the charge what they charge and don’t deliver. We paid full price and a 20% tip for a terrible experience.
Yuk, is how I’d sum up the entire...
Read moreTwo weeks ago, on September 5th, we had the pleasure of dining at Chesca’s in Martha’s Vineyard with our in-laws, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the warm ambiance and beautiful setting made us feel welcome and relaxed. The live music playing outside added a charming touch with the perfect soundtrack to a perfect evening.
We began with a selection of appetizers that were both artful and delicious. The Autumn Spinach Salad was a standout! It tasted like fall in every bite: refreshing, earthy, and beautifully balanced. Though technically a side, we ordered the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and they were crispy, flavorful, and addictive. We also shared the meatballs, hearty and comforting, and the Seared Scallops, which were so delicious. Every bite was a celebration of flavor and texture. The Crispy Eggplant Parmesan was rich, satisfying, and beautifully plated.
For entrées, I had the halibut with celery purée and swapped the green beans for more of those irresistible Brussels sprouts. Others at the table enjoyed the golden risotto with short ribs and the pappardelle bolognese, each dish met with rave reviews.
The service was friendly, attentive, and truly five-star. We felt cared for from start to finish. We also took photos of our meals because they were too beautiful not to capture. The food was so irresistible that we all started taking pictures after a few bites, we couldn’t help ourselves! Every plate was a work of art, and the flavors matched the presentation.
Chesca’s is more than a restaurant, it’s an experience. Whether you're celebrating something special or just want a memorable meal, this place delivers. Highly...
