This new location is very nice inside. The hostess was super friendly and genuinely made us feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. Our waitress was friendly and efficient but somewhat distracted... almost robotic at times. She'd smile and almost look right through us rather than looking us in the eye. While taking our order, she used the handheld ordering device almost as an excuse to not have to engage us directly.
The food was a bit above average. My wife had the mole and there wasn't a hint of cocoa which she prefers. It was a red mole, which was also the same sauce they used on their cheese enchiladas.
I ordered the carne asada. It was cooked perfectly - medium well, like I asked for - but lacked flavor. There were no spices on it. It tasted very plain; ot bad by any means, but kind of grassy or barnyardy. It might have been a bit better tasting if it was actually charred or crispy around the edges.
I paid $8 extra to make it "surf and turf," which just meant they added four shrimp to the plate. The description said they were cooked with chili oil. What arrived were four very average shrimp. Not much flavor to them, either. That means these were $2 a piece shrimp which tasted previously frozen.
I'd asked for my cheese enchilada to be made with onions as well, but they didn't include any.
We ordered both corn and flour tortillas but only corn were delivered so we had to wait a few minutes to catch her attention again.
The chilies toreados we're slightly underdone. No heat in the jalapenos whatsoever, which isn't the restaurant's fault, But they were also grassy or bell peppery tasting instead of spicy. A nice char would have helped.
The whole meal was just unimaginative.
We've eaten it Adelitas original location on Broadway a couple of times and it was much better.
With some work I'm sure they will dial it in at this...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of your Broadway location for years, and I’ve always enjoyed the food, drinks, and atmosphere. Unfortunately, after today’s experience, my group and I will no longer be returning.
We came in with a large party, ready to enjoy a great meal. Drinks and appetizers were flowing, and the energy was good—until one of our guests, who has strict dietary needs due to health reasons, was told she could not eat the food she brought with her. She always brings her own meals for safety and has never had an issue at your other location—or frankly, at any other restaurant we’ve visited. We fully understand that businesses have policies, but this was handled with a surprising lack of compassion.
It wasn’t like we brought in takeout from a competitor—we simply wanted to enjoy our meal together without excluding someone who literally can’t eat most restaurant food. It felt unwelcoming and unnecessarily rigid
We paid for our drinks and appetizers, then left. We walked next door, where we were warmly welcomed.
I’m sharing this because I hope it leads to some reflection. In a time when restaurants are working hard to retain loyal customers, small gestures of flexibility and empathy go a long way. Losing a few regulars may not seem like much, but these moments matter—and...
Read moreI noticed the “coming soon” sign a few months ago at their new Edgewater location and waited patiently to make my first visit to give them time to iron out any kinks. I suspect I didn’t have to wait.
The service was excellent. Our server asked if it was our first visit and patiently gave us an overview of the offerings and that everything is prepared from scratch on site. We also had an opportunity to try their four different sauces with our chips so we could pick which one we wanted on our entree order. This was not only good for decision making but stimulated great conversation as we each took turns critiquing the sauces.
I ordered a burrito with carnitas which was huge and delicious. The carnitas was moist and came apart easily. The verde sauce complimented the selection perfectly.
My wife ordered a half bowl of Pozole which she loved. It was nice to have the option of a half portion at lunch time. She ended up taking some home anyway as there was still a lot of food.
The seating is comfortable and I appreciated that the sound level in the restaurant was not overbearing. It was easy to have a pleasant conversation while eating.
As we walked away we all commented that we will be back to try other selections from their...
