Shake Shack Edgewater — Restaurant in Edgewater

I ordered online from this location to pick up. I go inside and I stand at the napkin counter which is right in front of the pick up location, no one asked me my name or even greeted me.I get a message saying my order is almost ready so I’m anticipating waiting probably five minutes since there was no one that was in line to order or had since I walked in the order. The staff was laughing joking around having a great time screaming, talking about sauces where made 2-3 days before and still being used and no one still asked me my name. A DoorDash gentleman walked in about 5 mins after me and stood exactly where I was they went up to him and asked his name and still didn’t bother to ask mine. Now I’m visually upset but still standing there. Now 15-20 mins have gone by and someone finally ask me what my name was. I told them, my food had been sitting there the whole time! I saw it one when I walked in but I assume since I got my message saying that it was almost ready that wasn’t my food and it was probably someone else’s food and it wasn’t even in the right pick up spot it said that it was for door dash or Uber eats. I love to get this like a good little treat because their burgers and their shakes are so amazing but after this experience I just cannot come back. It was just so unprofessional now and now I have food that’s barely warm because they couldn’t bother asking me my name when I walked...

I truly enjoyed the food we got here! I heard such good things about the chicken sandwich and it really held up! I was disappointed that it was lopsided. All my chicken was to one side, but the flavor was amazing. I recommend a side of the Mayo as well. We got cheese fries and the sauce was on the side. That was disappointing because it just congealed which made it impossible to dip. But I bet if it were on the fries it would be amazing!! The food was certainly 5 stars! However, the service was abysmal. It was uncomfortable and awkward. We called ahead to make sure there was dine in seating. When we arrived, at 9 pm, our order wouldn’t go through because we wanted to eat in house. I looked at the clock and it was 9:06, they close at 10 pm. The lobby was closed down to a space that was practically impossible to maintain social distancing. The dining room was closed off completely as if they were closed for the evening. I have never been to a fast food place in which I needed an hour to eat! We’re American! Even at sit down places it takes an hour tops! It was a strange and uncomfortable interaction with the gentleman who was “helping” people. I would come back for the food, but the service makes me want to skip...

I don’t do a lot of fast food but I found myself fixating on a burger, fries and milkshake. The name Shake Shack seemed to be beckoning me to give them a try.

I swung into their parking lot about 12:45 and was surprised that there was plenty of parking. Equally surprising was that inside only had about five patrons sitting to eat at what I consider the height of lunch hour. Omen?

I ordered at a credit card only kiosk. A cheeseburger, fries and milkshake - $21! OK I thought, this should be good. Unfortunately it was mediocre at best.

Here’s a pros and cons approach to my experience:

PROS - Clean inside and out Fast service - received food quickly after ordering Plenty of parking Staff was friendly

CONS - Classic fast food - nothing special EXPENSIVE for what I got

When you consider that you order from a kiosk (and I tipped). The food is served like any other fast food (like drive-ups) and you bus your own table you could do a lot better at many sit-down restaurants with table service for the same price.
