So I love the decor and ambience of this place They have like old-school pictures that pretty much represent Italian culture so I do enjoy it. And It is a step up from a regular pizzeria.
The food is good and I try to go during happy hour so I can get a little bit of a lower price. But today I went for lunch and I ordered a few apps. I like the sausage and broccoli rabe even though it lacks a little bit of flavor so you have to doctor it up a little bit. Otherwise it’s very garlicky and bland. But a little cheese and a little bit of salt and pepper does the trick , I love the meatballs but I know how to make my own meatballs so paying $16 for four meatballs just seems outrageous to me The pasta Fagioli is very good however, when you get it to go, the bowl size seems like less than a cup. If I order a bowl to go, it should at least be 3/4 of the way of a small container filled but instead it’s only halfway and that ticks me off. like I should’ve ordered a bowl there and then put it in a container. They only give you like a couple ounces for a bowl that seems equivalent to. ( like a half of small Chinese soup container) So cheap for beans, noodles and broth. It does not cost that much to make pasta fagioli. This actually makes me feel that the restaurants are not owned by Italian people because as an Italian we tend to be generous w food and give good portions but the soup not so much I see. For $9 give me more than four spoonfuls. I bought a Prosecco while I waited. In the menu it says nine dollars and I was charged $10. I just wish that they would get their prices right.
The service here is OK. It’s nothing right home about everybody was really friendly. Just not as attentive as they could be. I’ve been there a few times during happy hour and start off quick but then you wait forever for a chat and wait forever for them to process the check, one bartender is very popular there so I feel like she slightly cocky and takes her time with everything because she’s always talking to everyone but when you’re ready to go you’re ready to go….
I will definitely return but I won’t order soup anymore and I will ask for cheese when my meal gets there bc otherwise you wait until you’re almost...
Read moreThere's an old joke that states that if you're after a great NYC pizza, either you have to go to New York, or to South Florida.
Given the diaspora of native New Yorkers to Florida, there's some truth to that. In the same way that American blues music made its journey to suburban popularity through the music scene in England, there's a parallel here where coal-fired pizza made a similar journey from NYC to Florida, then back to the suburban northeast.
The decor is a contrived combination of wood bar and carefully curated items that recall a past that never really existed, in a functional chain sort of setting. The tchotchkes are diverting, but the real star of the show is, of course, the pizza.
Now, if you're expecting five-star pizza .... ummm, no. We save those five stars for those places that are unique, original, and utterly special. But, it's a good, solid four-star pie. As advertised, it features a charred crust, that is good but missing that special something that really perfect pizza has. The sauce is slightly sweet, missing some of the tomato tang and bite you'll find in a NYC pie, but it works well in context with good quality cheese and loaded toppings.
Wisely, the menu isn't extensive, choosing to execute a narrower range of choices well, with a standout wing offering and decent meatballs.
The beer selection shines, with a good rotating selection of craft beers and occasional specials.
It's a better-than-average pizza in a nice setting next to a suburban mall and surrounded by a traffic nightmare. If shopping in the mall doesn't drive you to drink, the traffic will, so grab a seat at the bar and order a cold one. It will...
Read moreA family of four which include two adults minor kids. At first service was great until the waitress didn’t like I asked for manager. Reason of asking I order garlic knots and they was completely burned, asked her if she could take them back to kitchen, but instead she refused to talk them back. Manager came to table apologized and agreed, without hesitation. He said he would take them off the bill. But needless to say it didn’t stop there, the waitress which her name was Denise or Diana wasn’t checking to see if we needed anything, we seemed help from another waitress that wasn’t ours. When bill arrive it was $78.00, I paid with my card and crossed out tip line. We had every intention of tipping other waitress because she didn’t help us, she was more concern with a party of 10 table. Once she saw that, she immediately said in front of our children which was 5&6 years old, God see all, No tip. I asked for manager again. This was worst service I’ve every experience in my life. Being only minorities in this place made us look completely embarrassed. The manager came out and asked what he could do, nothing was to be done! Bill was paid and because of your waitress our kids witness a woman getting pushed into the kitchen by staff. Because of nature of my job, I’m totally disgusted by this! Your service plays apart of your tip. She...
