Have been here a handful of times over the past year or two.

Shakes and Blasts: AWESOME (granted, they can easily go into sweetness overload, so order a small or medium if you're not extremely into sweets or if you don't plan on sharing).

The wait can be a bit long, depending on the time of day and on whether you go through the drive-through or into one of the stalls for the carhop service.

Sometimes the drive-through's quicker and, at other times, it seemed about the same (we've even seen the carhops skate on by to take someone in the drive-through line their order; hats off to them).

There's also an outdoor seating area (and a walk-up window...?), though we haven't gotten service there.

The mozzarella sticks are quite good, covered in breadcrumbs, not just battered.

Their popcorn chicken pieces (which I liked better than the Chicken Tenders I'd last had there) are also pretty good.

The Chicken Tenders Dinner: tenders were okay (I've had better) and, aside from the tenders, onion rings (slightly sweet, some onions less soft than others, but satisfyingly crunchy on the outside), and tater tots (nice and crunchy with a good potato-salt ratio), it also included a couple of pieces of soft, buttered(?) toast, which we didn't really know what to make of (biscuits: sure; toast: ?).

Did I mention their shakes/Blasts are AWESOME? They are (even if I've yet to keep straight/recall which are considered shakes and which are considered "Blasts/Master Blasts"). I was sad to hear that the coconut one (shake? Blast?) is no longer being served. Apparently, they change some of their flavors every so often.

I ended up trying the strawberry cheesecake shake/Blast and REALLY enjoyed it. (Think of this: actual chunks of strawberry and cheesecake/Graham cracker crust mixed into ice cream, with chunks big enough that they don't always fit easily through the straw...now that's a problem I don't mind having! Lol. Is your mouth watering yet? Mine is.)

They serve their shakes/Blasts topped with a generous amount of thick whipped cream and a cherry on top 😍😋👍👍

During the most recent visit (late summer of 2018), they were offering shakes, floats, and ice cream slushes at half price after 8PM, until Labor Day (or half-price ALL day when ordering through their app or on select days, which their text/e-mail alerts let you know about).

The only thing I didn't appreciate too much is that, I'm guessing due to how busy it gets there, the person taking the order is SUPER rushed, especially at the drive-through. If you haven't already tried what you're about to order, don't expect a lot of help/guidance/patience from the person taking your order.

They're not necessarily rude, per se, they just don't seem to have enough time to answer questions about your food/drink order and expect you to know what's what already. Understandable (though somewhat frustrating), as they seem to be all packed in like sardines inside the kitchen/building and scrambling to serve both drive-up and drive-in (and walk-up?) customers.

If that's an issue for you also, I recommend going to the Sonic website, which is pretty descriptive, for at least some guidance on what you're planning on ordering.

In summary, shakes/Blasts are DELICIOUS and the mozzarella sticks are really enjoyable, along with their popcorn chicken. What isn't as enjoyable is how rushed it...

The food was great, but the customer service was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. We pull into a spot to start our order, I tell the employee over the intercom that me and my friends would be doing separate orders. She asks me how many, and when I tell her four she starts yelling at us and says that they can only take two orders and she speaks with an attitude I have never been spoken to with in my entire life. When she comes out to give us our food she practically tosses the bag at us instead of handing it to us. We finish our food and click the button on the kiosk to order milkshakes (we didn’t get them in our first order so they wouldn’t melt while we ate our food.) After I press the button its utter silence, and we all think that she must be attending someone else. 10 minutes go by so I say “is the machine not working?” and all we hear is her YELLING at us saying that she wont be taking orders from us unless we park on the other side. Lastly when we finally get to the other side, the other manager, Rob, (who was absolutely lovely) gives us our milkshakes. We ask him if he was to hear our song and he says sure, we start singing to him and he is dancing. Out of nowhere the lady from earlier steps outside, says “Have fun with them” and LOCKS Rob outside of the store. I have genuinely never experienced anything like this, and it is a complete shame because the food and the rest of the staff are completely amazing, she should be fired...

Hands down the most pathetic excuse for a fast-food experience I’ve ever had — Sonic should be ashamed.

We pulled up to the order window, only to be waved off and told to go through the drive-thru. Mildly annoying, but whatever. So we drive around, and at 12:15 AM, we’re suddenly told they “can’t take our order” because they’re about to close. Seriously? The place clearly advertises closing at 1:00 AM — not “whenever the staff feels like quitting.”

This wasn’t just lazy. It was intentional neglect. They flat-out refused to serve us despite being open. And as if that wasn’t enough of a slap in the face, the woman at the drive-thru couldn’t have been more hostile if she tried. She was rude, cold, dismissive — like she hated her job and wanted everyone else to suffer for it. She told us we could only order one milkshake — no explanation, no apology, just a nasty attitude and an obvious desire to do as little work as possible.

It honestly felt like we were unwelcome intruders at a place that should be grateful for any business. Instead, we got treated like garbage for daring to show up.

This wasn’t just “bad service” — this was a total meltdown of professionalism, effort, and human decency. If this is the kind of service Sonic is okay with, then it’s no wonder their brand is circling the drain. Places like this don’t deserve loyal customers — they deserve empty parking lots and...

The women who took my order was fairly rude. I simply asked if their ice cream machine was working since yesterday (monday) they told me it was being cleaned. She acted like i was stupid, going “huh, what are you even talking about” like she didnt understand the simple question i just asked 🤦‍♀️ 1) why are you cleaning your machines during work hours? You close at 11pm? Clean it then. 2) when i came the next day i was given hella attitude from her. 3) its unacceptable that i need to repeat my order 5 times just for one person to understand it. I shouldnt need to speak to you like a 5 year old. 4) all i wanted was a Blast With mm and cookie dough. 5) it took them 10 minutes to complete a single drink which i think is pretty crazy for how much business they actually get. 6) when i finished what i ordered at the bottom of my cup was just a literal MOUNTAIN of toppings. Unless thats their policy i dont think that my drink should havr had that much toppings piled up at the bottom. 7) Aiden was my cashier at window. I like him he was the nicest person there. Very kind and understanding. I dont understand how they function that store if it takes them so long to do things and they neglect their customers to make the car’s order behind them. I wont be going there anymore.

My family of four visited Sonic in Edison during a day trip. It was on a Tuesday a little after 1 pm, so it wasn't very busy. We noticed that quite a few of the order screens are out of order. We found one that worked near the restroom since we all had to have a potty break after our drive. I like that they have single person facilities but the doors are quite heavy and despite being handicapped accessible the way to the bathroom is not wheelchair friendly since you have to get up on the sidewalk and then maneuver a heavy door followed by another heavy door. Ordering was easy since we just ordered from the car. My husband was bummed that they did not have watermelon as a flavor option for slushes or any other drinks. I was a bit sad that they were out of onion rings since I can't eat fries or tots. The footlong conies were a hit with my guys, though. The server was wearing rollerskates, which was nostalgic and impressive. The food was hot, fresh, and good. The mango slush was more ice than anything else, though, and I ended up wasting most of it since I couldn't drink it. Overall, it was still a good lunch stop.
