This was my first visit in, and we wanted to try an assortment of menu items so that I could review as much as I could in one take.
For starters: we loved everything we had, simply put i highly recommend this place, but there is a caveat. The owner, who also runs the store, bakery, is having some pretty serious health issues, and while this is her dream business, she isn't always able to have regular business hours. We spoke to her at length, and the situation is quite unfortunate as we were absolutely blown away by the baked goods and boba drinks! I know that in today's market, having a business with unsteady hours can be difficult, but i would implore people to do anything they can to try to cake it by DaDa!
Onto the reviewed items: For starters, we got two Boba drinks. We got a taro cream tea with strawberry bursters and a mango with real mango fruit. Both teas were amazing. They don't have that powdery texture some other places have, and the busters didn't leave a film in your mouth. The mangos were soft and delicious! This is our favorite boba teas in all of edmond! Next week, I had the strawberry Dubai cup, and my wife devoured the entire cup! While I felt the price was a little high, my wife argued that it was worth every penny. Strawberries were fresh, and she couldn't stop. We also got a creme Brule with caramelized topper, which was a delicious dessert that hit the spot for me. While most occasions I prefer the warm top, I didn't mind the premaid setup for ease to go. We also had two cake desserts. The first was their most popular lavender blueberry cake, and it was so delicious. We shared between the three of us, and the continuous mmmms and ahhhhs with every bite got me understanding why so many enjoy this one. The second was an angel food style, strawberry, and kiwi, which was very soft, moist, and delicious. We noticed both frosting while sweet were very mild. They both were light and fluffy, allowing the customer to eat comfortably. Cake it by DaDa also does special occasion cake designs. I included some photos of cakes they had actually made and was quite impressed with the artistry. They can do everything from custom wedding cakes, celebrations, breakable cakes, tier cakes, and elaborate custom works. Entry prices are very affordable, starting at around 25.00 and up depending on complexity, size, etc. of the cake.
Overall I would highly recommend giving Cake it by DaDa a chance to earn your business and treat yourself to a Boba tea...
Read moreFor starters, I will say I waited all week to try the strawberry cup and dubai DARK chocolate bar. The hours of operation are definitely a miss for new customers. I wanted to splurge (in calories and funds) my birthday week and anticipated trying it when I realized they didn't even open until Thursday. I thought that was pretty late in the week and a miss to make some real revenue early on. The Viral Dubai chocolate strawberries: I really liked the textures and freshness of the fruit used. The ratio of Pistachio cream & chocolate to the dry crunch was a bit off. Towards the middle, it was so dry, it light weight irritated my gums. Once I powered through the rough, the bottom of the cup and ratios where most toppings sat, were delightful. The Dubai chocolate bar was basic. I requested a dark chocolate. At first she said they had none. This is an issue because it's the first day of the week they were open and I assumed things would be available. She eventually said she had one left and sold it to me. (It was milk chocolate when i got home to try it) The bar is a competitive price (cheaper than most) but, then you get there and social media has really misinterpreted the size they actually are. They are TINY. Literally about an inch wide and about two inches long. And the inside seemed dry as well. Too crunchy, not enough cream. Not worth it at all. I honestly could have ordered one off Amazon and had better value. The presentation was expected to be much better than a clear solo cup, basic napkins and counter top dusty forks to serve with; my thought: this is diabolical. I had to request one that didn't have splatters on it or had been coughed, sneezed and/or touched by every customer that entered the store. The restaurant space needs work. It would take one Saturday to clean up the mess in the booth cluttered with papers and work related things. It looked like an office table, which to me, is unprofessional. Keep all your business stuff off the sales floor, in a back office or hidden away from the public. It did not look welcoming at all. There was one young woman working taking both orders and making them, so I applaud her. She was kind and professional . Just not impressed for a first time visit. I don't think I'll be going back. There was nothing I had that I would crave or want occasionally. If I do, I'll try a couple of the cakes. The blueberry lavender one...
Read moreWhile I loved my first visit here despite the pricey options and lack of urgency, the second time I came to bring a friend I was very disappointed. The waittime was about an hour, they should hire more staff, and after the wait time the quality of the dubai cup was deplorable. Berries were bitter, BARELY ANY pistachio cream and there were NO crunchy pieces and just chocolate over old fruit. Moreover, I went up to the counter to express my concern and ask for a remake or maybe more pistachio and how they forgot the crunch. She looked at me and was like welp thats how she made it so...? After being met with such little care, I said I will be writing a review and the girl acted as if she simply did not care. It seems to me this place will become one that blocks their own blessings because they are not adjusting to the attention well. With high volume consumer rates, business is to elevate and grow with the clientele number. In the midst of that, quality of the product that brought you clientele should not decline or be rushed. Lastly, once a platform to fix error is presented from the consumer, no initiative for mediation or satisfaction is distasteful. I hope someone else doesnt have to experience what I did. Waste of a...
