Oliver's Main Street Pub — Restaurant in Edwardsville

Unfortunately the entire experience was not good. The entire “beer wall,” which is supposed to be part of their “allure,” was closed. Not sure why.

The establishment is short staffed to the point that they need to close. There were a total of five tables on a Friday night. That’s it... We were there almost two hours due to waiting for food.. We ordered a pizza, two side salads, and a hamburger. We never got a portion of the order—no salads. The patrons of the restaurant were actually discussing that there must be issues. After finally getting the food, the pizza was no better than one that was frozen—I could have made that at home. The hamburger, however, was decent.

At this establishment, you can’t have a water refill, eating utensils, napkins, or ketchup. If you ask, the waitress gets aggravated. I didn’t ask in a rude way. I even apologized. I apologized for the restaurant’s ineptitude—that’s crazy, but I was trying to be sympathetic.

The server was flustered and beyond rude. I totally get being short staffed. I work in a short staffed industry that’s highly criticized and scrutinized. I get it. However, there’s no need to be mean. If I acted like my server, I’d be fired. I will never go to this establishment again.

It is okay to close if you can’t staff the restaurant. It’s not okay to be mean. If the owner would like me to discuss this further, I’m happy to. I wish I had heeded the warning of the table next to us—they told us to leave. I wish I would have left. I have never reviewed a restaurant before, but that was a lot of money for a really bad experience. I wish to warn others so they do not waste their hard...

Went for a date night with my wife and had a disappointing meal served to us by a very friendly and attentive waitstaff. We were greeted and waited upon by a lovely waitstaff - they were frierdly and timely with their check-ins and food delivery. Unfortunately, the fries in our poutine were underdone, then the burger my wife ordered was overcooked and served on a bun so burnt it resembled a piece of charcoal. The only way that either portion of our meal would have been memorable would have been if they had been prepared well, but unfortunately that was not...

I had lunch at Oliver’s today and was very pleased with everything. The spinach artichoke appetizer came with homemade pita chips nicely seasoned. It was delicious. I also had the club pizza. It was fabulous! Plenty of tasty sauce, toppings, and cheese. They didn’t skimp on anything like other restaurants I’ve been to. Wade was my waiter and he was awesome! Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the restaurant and the food. I also felt the prices were reasonable. I would give this review 10 stars if possible. I will be returning to try other items...
