My family and I were visiting the area in June of 2018. Our son was stationed there at the time and we were visiting him before his deployment. We chose the Cattle Baron b/c it was in close proximity to the hotel we were staying in at that particular time. Upon entering the establishment, I observed that is was beautiful, clean and well-organized, plus the A I saw on the wall was a great comfort too lol. The hostess at the front was very friendly and helpful. The waitress for our table was named Martha and she was just as friendly as the hostess. She was genuinely very attentive to us all, and checked on us periodically to see if we needed anything and was always willing to help. You could see that she really loved her job. My older son, his girlfriend and my younger son ordered steaks, my husband ordered fish and ordered the Cajun Chicken Alfredo. The food was GREAT!! We were all well-satisfied with the quality and the serving amount of the food😋. I could not finish my meal, so they let me take the rest in a to-go plate. My overall experience at this eatery was a wonderful one and also one I will never forget. Friendly service and good food go hand-in-hand. I’d rate it ten stars if I could. Keep doing what y’all do!!

Went here with friends for dinner. Walking distance from airport hotels. The salad bar was huge and interesting and clean and produce/vegetables were fresh. Tastiest Ranch dressing I have ever had! I also ordered the chicken Alfredo. All of it pretty good. You also get free freshly baked bread with butter. Some of my friends had complaints about items on the salad bar (Jello was super sweet, hard to reach the center for items even though the tongs are 20" long, sprouts tasted moldy, etc). It was a busy night but service was poor. Our server was very nice but her attention to detail or maybe her memory was lacking. For example a friend ordered a burger (which looked amazing!) and wanted ketchup and mustard. We had to ask 3 times for the mustard with long gaps of time in between. Same thing when we wanted the bill but couldn't find her. We tried to flag down other staff but no luck. We collectively observed a whole collection of servers hoovering around an order station. Not ordering stuff. Just standing around. Was there a house manager on hand? This place has a good reputation and good food. Maybe more involved management would cure the server issues?

I give this surf and turf food 2 stars. As a Texas native who travels all over the state, and looks forward to eating a good steak and seafood. Now for my personal review. The choice of drinks is great they even have different types of water. I chose the mineral water. The salad bar is fantastic with a good selection, so good that you cannot reach some items in the middle which cause cross contamination to other items (I didnt mind but someone probably does). Only thing missing was fresh pickles and boiled eggs. The small round sweet peppers was my personal favorite of the night! I ordered a sample platter for the appetizer which had fried small shrimp which was very crunchy and good. Mozzarella sticks were super cheesy and wantons. The appetizers in all were mediocre and one could have ordered at the Applebee's across the street with same end result. NOW FOR THE STEAK! I ordered the 14oz ribeye medium rare with the steak topping options of Peppered and Sautéed Mushrooms. The Peppered was a bad choice the green peppercorn compound butter was overly salty and tasted and resembled too much like gravy. I believe it would have possibly gone better on a pork chop. The mushrooms I cannot comment on because the green pepper sauce over powered the steak. I did manage to find a peice of steak that was plain and it tasted okay and these cooks here I can tell take pride in their peppercorns. Overall: The waitress expressed her concern by giving us a DO NOT EAT recommendation, which is always terrible for business but at least she was honest and a friendly waitress that should probably hold her tongue more often. To me it sounded like the chefs only know how to cook a steak plain. If anyone is looking for a nice atmosphere, fairly priced, mediocre steak with a great salad bar this is the place to go. I am sure there is other items on this menu that would have been a way better choice for me get. Quite possibly the prime rib or chicken fried chicken?

My very first time in Texas, my 1st meal in Texas, was from Cattle Barron El Paso (to go order). 1st and foremost, Charly is amazing! She's like that favorite aunt you only see on holidays, therefore you can't wait until the next holiday! Her demeanor on the phone, then in person was beyond warm and welcoming, but truly appreciated!! The Grilled Sirloin Salad was awesome, and her recommendation for the house made smoked vinegarette was on point. She made sure to ask about bread...of course I want the bread!! Awesome also!! My trick for jetlag is mashed potatoes, don't ask me why, it's just what I do, and those were also perfect! I will definitely come here again, hopefully for a longer stay so I can try the Prime Rib, eat at the bar where Charly is at, and get to know more about El Paso (and it didn't break the bank or my per diem!!)

Spending New Year's in El Paso, I was doubtful there will be any restaurants available but I was wrong and the start to the new year couldn't have been any better. The service was excellent from start to finish. It was a little surprise and amusement for us, when all three of us got asked for our IDs when together our ages combined make 170 years. Company policy. As an appetizer, we ordered the wontons and they were delicious. Crunchy, tasty and in combination with the chili sauce! The guys ordered prime rib, of course and I went for a cliche steak salad. The steak was deliciously juicy and tender to be fair. The salad was a little bit too much swimming in a pond of dressing. We also thoroughly enjoyed the salad bar. No space for dessert, but I'm sure we all secretly regretted it.

On our trip from Phoenix to Lubbock we stayed near the airport and visited this Cattle Baron for dinner. We weren't impressed with the food or the condition of the building. 30 years ago we frequented the Cattle Baron in Portales NM and this restaurant looks exactly the same but with 30 years of wear and to tear. And I thought they'd be experts at a chicken fried steak but it was really greasy and the meat had an unsettling purple hue. Yuck. The salad bar is good though and the employees are very nice. Owners should be ashamed of the condition of the place though. Check out the sign in the lobby from 2007 about accepting checks. That gives you a clue be as to the time warp this place is stuck in.
