Gozo’s Ice Cream — Restaurant in El Paso

We had a wonderful time meeting the gentlemen working there. Their customer service was outstanding. They were so caring and careful to make sure our order was correct. We ordered Loco Choco and Salted Bearamel!! So delicious!! The only downfall to this wonderful experience was the Supervisor, Monica. When she was on her break, she was watching videos on her laptop with her large, colored foam earphones on. When breaktime was over, she put her laptop away, walked towards our direction, made eye contact twice and didnt say a word to ANY of the people there. She did tell a little girl to put down a teddy bear she picked up from the bin to "drop it." The 3 guys were happy to have her back to the kitchen area. She washed her hands, went to pick up her apron outside of the kitchen area, and proceeded to make waffle cones. Several noticed her attitude. If there weren't Approx. 10 kids there, I would have spoken to her, reminding her that she is the example, the MANAGER, and she should remember that customers matter. Her knit, taupe colored sweater that hung over her hands was inappropriate for preparing food. It should have been raised above her elbows. It wasnt. On a walk about this dark afternoon, I decided I needed a psychological uplift, so I carried myself to Gozo's on Oregon downtown! I had heard about Gozo's but hadn't gone. What a great surprise, I wasn't even completely in the "scoop shop" when I warmly welcomed. Sweet! The ice cream varieties were broad, including a large selection of non-dairy offerings! Really comfortable seating, and a cost consciousness hard to find in other ice cream stores! Look, I love ice cream, but that is only the half of why Gozo's captured my imagination. To have the creativity, courage, and dedication to offer employment to intellectually challenged and give these men and womem a place to shine is tops in my book! The decor was soooo cute! Ice Cream was different and suuuuper good. Uhhh Dr. Pepper....yes please!!!! The staff was very attentive and amazingly friendly! They gave us samples, and we carried on a nice conversation. The manager was amazing with her staff and helped them every step of the way, but let them be independent when possible. I wish we had one on the far east side. Parking was a little difficult , BUT worth it . I would def do the 40 min drive again to come back. We had a lovley time and made 2 new friends!
