Read moreMaybe the chef was having a not-so-good day today. Both the Caldo de Res and the Albondigas Caldo were lacking flavor. The ingredients were generous, but the taste just was a little shy of what we expected. I've had much better in smaller restaurants. On the other hand, the service, tostadas with salsa and the atmosphere were excellent. Next time we'll try some of the mainstream plates like nachos, tacos or combination plates. BTW, providing corn tortillas with the caldo would have been a plus.
Update 9/7/2025 Sunday evening, no waiting at 730pm. However, we waited over a half hour for our food. We ordered Chicken fajitas and Sombrero salads. Sombrero salads comes in either chicken or beef. Both are filled well with the protein. We rated 3.5 out of 5. Chicken fajitas were a disappointment. They had more veggies than chicken. They come with a tiny bit of guacamole and some tortillas. Very overpriced for what you get. Rated a 2 out of 5. Beware that if you ask for sour cream an additional $3.00 will be charged. If you ask the server to give you a bit more guacamole because the original serving was so tiny, you will be charged an additional $5.50 for about a large tablespoon of guacamole. The server did not mention the extra charge until we got the ticket. The two little "extras" amounted to about $9 more. That brings the fajitas cost up to $30. L&J cafe fajitas are better overall, better served, and a better value. L&J provides a decent amount of guacamole, sour cream, rice and beans for about $19 as of this writing. By the way, the manager on duty was little help. He had a pretty lame excuse for the tiny size of the guacamole serving. All he did was give us another tablespoon spoon of guacamole to take home. ...
Read moreIt's My birthday today september 30 2023 my husband and came to the restaurant because I wanted to come here for my birthday. We were the only black people in the restaurant at the time around 3:30 or 4ish the waiter came to my husband and told him the credit card machine was not working did we have cash we said what you could not tell us that before we sat down we was so humiliated because they didn't tell no one else that in the restaurant just us. When he seen we got upset and just decided to leave he said let me go check and all of a sudden the machines worked 😒. What so bad about it they tried to make it like it really wasn't a problem but they judge us because we were black period. It's so sad that we can't go to a restaurant dressed casual without people always thinking black people are trying to get over or dont have money we wouldn't go if we didn't. We went ahead and stayed but I was so uncomfortable because people was looking at us like we did something wrong when it was them that treated us like we didn't belong there. Well I chose to go there because I loved the food but they ruined my birthday dinner and had me about to cry on my special day. They also said they would come sing Happy Birthday to me and they didn't he brought me my do go bag we gave him a 20 dollar tip and he act like he did everything right when actually he ruined my day . God said love everyone not who or what you think but to love everyone. I will not recommend my clients or friends to go there again because the businesses in el paso really don't treat black people the same. I will not support this business again well not this...
