As an avid Rib Hut fan and longtime customer, I'm quite disappointed to say I strongly advise you to avoid this location at all costs.
We arrived at 6:45pm on a Wednesday night, there was about a 5 minute wait to be seated outside - not particularly busy. We were seated in a corner by the exit. Outside seating is bench style, and they don't put out the basics like napkins or sauces - also an issue indoors. When your waiting staff is as slow as they are, you need these things at tables to avoid having your customers wait even longer than they already are - we'll get to that later.
Frustratingly, 20 minutes passed after we got seated and we still haven't been greeted by wait staff. When they finally got to us, it took another 40 minutes for us to get our food. Entrees only - they had forgotten our drinks, as well as our appetizer. It took another 10 minutes after getting our food for us to get simple waters, and I had to get up and ask for a roll of napkins for fear of waiting even longer. We didn't get our nacho appetizer until we were literally leaving.
I'd have loved to say that the ridiculous wait was redeemed by the food. Unfortunately, it wasn't. My go-to burger, the sunrise burger, didn't come with any condiments like it should've. No lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. It was literally a bare, disgustingly dry burger with cheese and an egg. It also costs more than the one I usually get at the Mesa location - not sure if that is the case at all their locations.
The ribs - what they're famous for, were tough and dry. I've had better ribs at backyard cookouts where the ribs were cooked on gas grills.
Looking around, I saw similarly dissatisfied patrons who were waiting for what seemed like an eternity for their food to get them and plates getting sent back when they finally did get their food. It's a shame that a place like Rib Hut that's held in such high regard with El Pasoans is being operated like this.
I'll update my review if I ever decide to visit again, but something tells me that my visit was the norm and not just me catching them...
Read moreSo bad. Tried the BBQ meat sampler, the brisket was flat only and ridiculously dry, the beef rib cuts were wildly overdone and chewy and the chicken was actually decent but I'm not coming to a place like this for chicken. Also tried the buffalo wing which might be the worst wings I have ever tried. I'm not sure if the person who prepped them knew what they were doing or if the name in which they were cut is a stylist choice for this restaurant. The wing tips were kept on and the attached "flat" wing was cut more than halfway up the two bones leaving bone shards and little to no meat. The drum my sections didn't fare better, also being cut more than halfway up the bone. They were just weird. I tried a bit of a burger which was just ok. To top it off, the dessert had a large hair in it. Our server claimed to be the manager, she was very interesting as she was busy with a large party on the patio. Maybe you shouldn't take on extra tables if you have a party with more than 20 people to tend to? If I could give less than 1 star I would. Would...
