I enjoyed the food here. It was hot and tasty with some great flavor (well at least the chicken was). However, I was not super happy with the young man who took my order. I have food intolerances and was trying to get a simple bowl with chicken and rice. I told him what I’d like and he insisted he could put the order in to be cheaper as a kid’s portion to which I questioned the portion size. He assured me it would be sufficient. Well, it was not and I had to go back up and order more food. When I went back up the line was much longer than when we had arrived. It was supposed to be a quick lunch in between customer appointments but ended up taking a little long than we should have because of having to order more food. The chicken was really good but the steak was just okay (a little tough and not very hot). I also had to order different rice on the second trip because I didn’t realize the rice I received with my first order was going to have tomatoes which aren’t great for me to eat. I was able to order the white rice on the second trip to the counter. Overall the chicken and white rice were pretty good. I almost forgot that they do have homemade lemonade with real sugar which was a real treat. It was probably the highlight of my visit (how could I almost forget that!). The service could have been a little better. I would probably give a second chance when in town again if for nothing else but the lemonade…but I would do so...

I needed a quick bite, that was somewhat healthier than fast-food. I ordered their Cabo Plate ($11.49), which came with their Original Fish Taco, Classic Grilled Shrimp Burrito, pinto beans, and chips. Their taco was voted #1 Fish Taco in California by USA Today's Readers' Poll Best of 2018. It is a sustainable, Wild Alaska Pollock, beer-battered by hand and cooked to a crisp, topped with white sauce, mild salsa, and cabbage, and served on a warm, stone-ground corn tortilla. While I could taste the flavors that led to Rubio's winning best fish taco in California, I have to say it was muted. The taco just needed more white sauce and salsa to bring it to life. The Grilled Shrimp Burrito is a sustainable, grilled shrimp, with "no-fried" pinto beans (a company trademark), cheese, Mexican rice, salsa fresca, creamy chipotle sauce, and served on a warm flour tortilla with tortilla chips. Again, there was a lot of rice (which I address later) and not enough flavor--which should have been bursting through the tortilla with the way they built it. Luckily, the restaurant has a great salsa bar where you can load up your meal with additional deliciousness, which is what I did. I also ordered a large side of Mexican rice ($1.89) and that too lacked flavor (which seemed to be a recurring theme). Overall, it was OK. I don't think I would be back, but I'm glad I tried...
Read moreThe food is good, the location is nice and there’s plenty of free parking. Just be very careful! There were errors ordering online and they charged me twice instead of crediting the corrected difference. It took a while, but they finally resolved it even after my credit card ruled in their favor because I had no receipt for the second charge on my credit card. Each time I’ve gone, there were customers complaining about missing and incorrect items. Management is working on the app issue, and in the end, were super honest and helpful, but check your orders and get receipts. The food is fresh, California style Mexican with a variety of tacos, burritos, salads and bowls made with sustainably caught fish. There are vegan, chicken and beef items too. Food tends to cater towards the California rather than Mexican palate, but we still find enjoyable options and they are really good about customizing orders so that I find cilantro, white sauces or cheese on my plate.
