I love it here! The remodel they just did makes the place look incredible, they have beautiful decor and a fish tank! The aesthetic of the restaurant is spot on and is very clean. They walked around just to make sure everything was clean during our meal. The staff are all so kind and just the right amount of attentive for a beautiful lunch or dinner out. They are very conscious about vegan/vegetarians and asked if we wanted our meals made vegan when we asked for tofu in our entrees. Went there for lunch today, and asked for a side of peanut sauce, and got basically a small soup bowl of peanut sauce. I’ve been here about 3 times since the remodel and each time I’ve been here I’ve had a wonderful experience. They have GREAT portion sizes - I usually take home about 2/3 of my meal to have for later, and it reheats amazingly in the oven or microwave, still tasting just as yummy as when I had it in the restaurant. Worth your time to stop by, whether passing through or a local resident!

The waitress was wonderful and extremely accommodating to every possible desire. The service was very good. Sadly however, the wonderful, quaint, heavily, traditional -transporting-to another world- " Thai" interior has been replaced with early turn of the 21st century, " bougie sports bar". Complete with a couple of wide screens on the upper walls. Thank goodness the fish tank is still there! Moreover, the food was decidely, unexpectably, boring. Heavy on the noodles extremely scant on the ok sauce, not to mention the vegetables. Chicken was adequately included. Spicey, wasn't. My friend got a 3 that should've been my mild. My mild was incredibly even more bland to be almost not " Thai" at all. Prices are high 15$+ for a plate of Noodles with a tiny smattering of veggies- ( enough for accent color) and some sliced chicken. 6$ for a basic 12oz Thai Tea. Very sad. An Iconic, gracious, Ellensburg taste sensation location has been lost.

This little gem of a Thai Place in the heart of Ellensburg surprised me and my two highly persnickety kids. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was incredibly friendly. The food came out almost immediately. The Pad Woon Sen I ordered, had a unique delicious smokey taste to it a while the Eggplant was deviously spicy. Even my kids loved their Pad Thai and my smart-ass son cleaned his plate (as seen in the picture) and said "Food good. Me likey." (Typical 12 year old 🙄). My 10 yr old daughter just asked for takeaway box and made me promise NOT to eat her leftovers... (Been guilty of that before 🤦) All in all, it was a delicious culinary experience! We highly recommend it. And as my kids said: "Will eat again!"

Oh my goodness… my son & I paid for this alright! We were sick as dogs within 5 minutes. We can’t have ANY spicy foods because of an autoimmune disease that we both have in our stomachs. I asked on that app- NO HEAT! The minute I tried my curry my lips were on 🔥! I warned my son & he ate a few bites & both of us became instantly sick to our guts! It was so bad that my son thought he had to go to the Er. I’ve had plenty of curry where we’ve had no heat, no issues. This was the worst! The pain was so severe we were sweating & wanted to vomit. I was not expecting that! My daughter is vegetarian & ordered the noodles with no onion. She got lots of onion & in replacement of chicken she asked for egg. No chicken, but she got no egg either so she didn’t really eat it. But when I ask for no heat- it’s because I have an actual disease in my stomach. The inside of my stomach is raw as it can get & was recently bleeding. So to pay $100 for food that we couldn’t eat- 2 of the meals were inedible. One was entirely messed up. Someone didn’t pay attention. We’ve dined in this place before & had the curry & got exactly what we ordered. So I know that this was overlooked when we ordered online. Unbelievable we were in such pain all night long & so sick- I can’t do that again for over $100.00. No way. I believe that we should be compensated at the very least because of this. Huge mistake for that price to pay. When we customers say no heat sometimes it’s for a reason like a health issue &...

From 2023: IT'S AWESOME! Sugar Thai has reopened!!! I've been missing this restaurant while they have been closed for renovation. But they are back, and I am thrilled. I saw the neon open sign glowing in the dark last night. We immediately went for dinner.

The interior is completely modernized and updated. It is chic! Yet, it still retains it's comfortable feel. The huge fish tank is still there, too (as are some of our buddy fish!).

The service was excellent. The staff was knowledgeable, fast and friendly. They had tidy, comfortable clothes, so they had gotten rid of the tacky traditional look they had before.

And the food!!! Fresh, beautifully cooked and spiced, and a feast for the eyes and the belly!!! The menu has some of the go-to items, but also many others that are new. I would love for them to bring back the lemongrass curry they had before. I love that one.

My advice: GO to Sugar Thai!!!

From 2022: I have eaten here many, many times. The food is good. I’ve had the pad Thai (definitely order it with extra cilantro), pad kee mao (drunken noodles), and the lemongrass curry. My husband usually gets the masaman curry or noodles. My daughter always gets the chicken satay, which is a very generous portion. All of these dishes are good, but some are better than others. The lemongrass is phenomenal as is the pad kee mao.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is not pretentious. It’s comfortable, too.

I’ll continue to go back...

This ia an OK restaurant. The service is quick and responsive and the food comes out quick. A little too quickly. The environment is warm, comfortable, and inviting. The furniture is clean and in good condition. Again another mom andpop restaurant. A little more upscale then the others.

I ordered the usual deep fried spring rolls and the Red Chicken Curry. I first tried to ordered in Thai, however the waitress did not understand so i ordered in english.

The egg rolls came quickly and the Red Curry right behind it. This told me the egg rolls are frozen and they had a must taste to them a tell tale sign of being frozen.

The curry came quickly. I quickly discovered why. The Red curry wad not made to order but put together from sauces on the grill. Had this been made to order the bell peppers would have been slightly cooked. Instead they had been thrown in on its way out of the kithchen. The flavor was not as rich as i am acustom. I also asked for a five hot and recieved a one. I asked for srirachi sauce and received some different sauce in a cup that tasted mor like cocktail sauce. So i added it anyway. It only mildly jumped up the hot. I must day if you are having a quick lunch this might be an OK choice but of you are looking for authentic...
