Up late at a Super Nintendo Duck Hunt tournament, a friend said, "Man, I want a donut." The comment was then forgotten until we stepped outside at the crack of dawn and decided to drive 45 minutes to this place, Mochi donut factory. Now I haven't had a Mochi style donut in 10 years since I was last in Japan, so I was slightly skeptical when we arrived. And I am sure the shop owner was to when we showed up at the crack of dawn on a Sunday. Our group ended up ordering a dozen donuts, all different flavors; I specifically ordered cookie n cream and strawberry. I was not disappointed; these doughnuts were fluffy and moist, with a satisfying chew. Constructed with 8 balls for easy tearing, and if you want sharing, they are all topped with whatever wonderful flavoring you order. After consuming an enormous amount of sugar and driving back to our respective cars, then home, I did come crashing down, but that didn't change my thoughts on this place. 10 out of 10: one of the best donut places in the St. Louis area, very much worth the journy out here. I will...
Read moreI've been so excited to try this place because they're so cute and different, but I definitely did not expect for the donuts to blow my mind the way they did. The texture of the actual donut is light and chewy so it's really satisfying to bite into. The icing was deceiving. I assumed it would be like a classic royal icing texture but it was really buttery and creamy, especially when they were fresh from the shop. That was the best surprise for me because I don't usually like icing but I loved this stuff. I got one of every flavor and was pretty shocked that Taro and black Sesame were my favorites. I don't dislike those flavors but I don't usually go wild for them. I couldn't stop eating the black sesame one and I'm already thinking about it and trying to find time to make the drive to Ellisville again. One last thing, the design makes these perfect...
Read moreI wanted mochi donuts for our wedding, and this was the only place I could find in St. Louis, so I crossed my fingers and hoped they would be good. Well, these are the BEST MOCHI DONUTS I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried many versions of mochi donuts both in the states and abroad). Some mochi donuts can be very soft, almost doughy all the way through, others can be more cakey all the way through. But the Mochi Donut Factory donuts are perfectly balanced with a very slight crust on the outside and a moist, soft interior. And the flavors are strong, perfumey, and just perfect.
We ordered 200 donuts for our wedding, and they were a HUGE hit. The Mochi Donut Factory was very flexible on our pick up date and time, and on the flavors. There is no delivery option, so we picked them up at noon and they were still amazing when we served...
