I'm vietnamese and my whole life I've been dining in phở restaurants in the U.S. all over from Los Angeles, California to Houston Texas. So I always know what to expect when walking into an authentic vietnamese restaurant. It usually entails wooden floors, menu with pictures, a mom&pop shop that has a homey feeling, allowing people to enjoy the comforts of Vietnam. So this weekend was just like any ordinary weekend, searching for good vietnamese restaurants as usual. So I decided to pick this place near the Southside of Vegas. Allow me to tell you that I was shocked when I enter through the double doors, I have never seen such an opulent architecture design that serves Viet food. I mean I had to a double take to make sure I didn't walk into the wrong place. Everything inside this restaurant was so enriching, from the marble walls, to the fine dining plates, see through glass of the kitchen and the bar countertop that was vibrant with interchanging colors. Whoever the owner is, took Vietnamese street food and infused it with modern interior decor to make a statement that we do not eat in the slums that we had come from afar but we have better ourselves. Which had me throughly impressed as I sat down. Let's talk about food: The cởi cuốn is a staple of vietnamese appetizer, and they went to great lengths to ensure each roll was wrapped with precision by also including fresh shrimp and other vegetables that made it so delicious and the sauce that is include was made compliments the rolls. Next is the phở, the broth was rich and hearty in flavor, and what I love what they done with the meats that is in the soup was put them in at the right time so when it was served it has a medium rare texture that burst in juices when you consume it. The noodles were cooked to perfection, not too underdone where it falls apart but not too overdone where it still has that texture that you can slurp up for days. The lunch I had is not one I'm going to forget, when my parents come down to visit, I will have to take them there. Everything was delicious that I had to take a second to admire everything they had done, and I decided that I might want to try their cơm tấm nướng, but I had to take that to go which is broken rice with porkchops and a sunny side egg. I had to take this to go obviously, but again, extremely impressed how they serve high quality vietnamese food. To be honest though, they are alittle pricey, and it won't be my everyday go to place for phở but if I needed to impresse people with what my country has to offer, you best believe I'm taking them here. I hope they can expand and setup shop alittle closer to home but they earned an A++ job on aesthetics of plating, interior design, and quality on food. I hope this review finds the vietnamese people and whomever enjoys South East Asian cuisine to come down and try this...
Read moreI have eaten at this restaurant at least 7-8 times in the past 4 years. I have raved about it to my friends and family. Initially, the food and service were always outstanding and I was always looking forward to eating at this restaurant.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit was so disappointing that I am reconsidering my endorsement. I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday morning at 11:30am for a work meeting with an Owner of a Small Business in Las Vegas. I arrived alone and waited about 1 minute until a very tall attractive Asian man approached and asked me where I wanted to sit.
I chose the booths in the rear and advised him that I was meeting someone there. That is the only communication I had with the waiter except for placing my order.
I sat down and waited for my appointment to arrive. I am seated at 11:32am. I noticed that the waiter was not paying me any attention. I am checking my phone and he brings two glasses of water and sets them down at the opposite end of the table. I say thank you, he says nothing and walks away.
He doesn’t hand me a menu - he leaves them stacked up at the end of the table by the water and walks away.
I noticed that there was only 4 other tables in use.
I go to restaurants all the time and this was clearly unprofessional customer service. He clearly had some sort of issue by the extremely unprofessional way he acted.
My guest arrived at 11:42. The waiter does not come to the table after my guest has arrived so I have to flag him down to take our order.
Our order was taken 11:49 - that was the last time he spoke and he never returned until it was time for the check. In between the arrival of the meal and my request for the check, we were waited on by a very kind waitress who happened to ask if we needed anything.
Unfortunately, our food was super mediocre which was the disappointing cherry on top.
I am not one to judge why someone acts with bad behavior and I am not sure what the guy’s issue was with me but I am sure he is not doing the restaurant any favors with his very unfriendly customer service.
Our bill was presented at 12:25 - the Asian waiter never said anything at all to us.. nothing like thank you for coming or it was a pleasure to have you or enjoy your day… Nothing. I hope that he reads this and recognizes that this is unacceptable customer service.
Not sure if I am...
Read moreI've been a customer of spring mountain location for years being that it's 24/7 and in chinatown it was very convenient. When I learned about TSLV location I was thinking will it be same or better? Two weeks has gone by before I muster courage to try, but still had that feeling of not being the same. Nice modern immaculate place bar counter with power outlet seating can be found all over including patio. Lively spacious feel not a fullhouse during lunch about ten tables were occupied. Fully staff not everyone was friendly when I ask for something they seemed bother. Oh well..
The menu here isn't limited to vietnamese they've limited popular dishes from thai, korean, chinese, japanese, singaporean, and mongolian. The beverage lineup isn't extensive limited to traditional viet coffee, lemonade, shave ice w/bean. But they do have alcoholic drink they will make whatever drink you desire since as long as they have what it takes on hand. I got appetizer shrimp spring roll pretty much standard stuff translucent rice paper stuffed with lettuce, vermicelli, mint leaves, and deveined shrimp peanut sauce was thick, but tasty. Combination pho dac biet was somewhat weak flavor wasn't there and broth luke warm. Broth was a little off taste water down, but I'm thankful for full strands of vermicelli and generous amount of meat. I had a minor problem with browning bean sprouts got it swap out, but same looking batch. I gave up and use what I had it just didn't look appealing especially brown tip. The entrees is USD$2 more and appetizers USD$1 more than spring mountain. I get it, newer location means more funds used towards the place, but the food quality didn't live up. So, I finally try new location, but will stick to chinatown spot for now.. 18% gratuity added for 6 or more.
