As a Las Vegas resident, Sickie's Garage is just about my favorite eatery to go to when I wish to satisfy my sporadic burger, fries and beer craving. I also like the wings at Sickie's, but I usually come here when my burger and fries craving kicks in. I love the overall atmosphere of the establishment with the automotive and rock music themes. As a single, 51-year old male professional, (not a geriatric by any means), I can come here to hang at the bar. I can enjoy my burger, fries (or onion rings, depending on the craving), and beer. I can watch my NASCAR race on one of the flatscreens plus jam to AC/DC on the sound system. I give 4 stars for the food. I have never had an issue with the food at this eatery. For this specific Saturday morning, my burger and rings were excellent. I give 3 stars for the service as I felt irrelevant during my visit. I enjoyed my food, beer and motorsports race. Bartender was hospitable and attentive to my food and beverage needs which I appreciated. I just felt that as more people came into the store, the more irrelevant I felt. I understand that everybody is busy. I get that. I am not seeking attention, nor do I expect anybody to roll out a red carpet just because I walked in. I know that I am not Travis Kelce or Dwayne Johnson. I feel that the bartender and servers tend to converse more with the Clark Griswold families or couples. There may be a number of reasons for this. Single men are often personified as going to bars solely to hit on women whether it be servers or customers. Bartenders and servers will also be more likely to receive higher gratuities from families and couples rather than from single people. Not the case with me. I do not hit on women; not at 21 nor 51. I tip generously which includes gratuity amounts in excess of 50% of the total ticket. What threw me here was that the bartender had time to converse with the couple sitting 3 seats to my left, the single guy who came in later and sat to my right, and the single guy who came in and sat at the other end of the bar to my left. But she really wasn't interested in anything that I had to say. Wonder why? I showered and practiced the necessary hygiene. I did not smell like armpit, nor did I smell like a Versace cologne factory. Maybe my Scorpions concert hoodie made her think that I am a member of some gang. No further need for speculation on my part. Just venting a little bit here. Never gave the bartender any kind of indication that I was hitting on her or any other member of the female gender in the store. I was minding my own business, sipping my beer and watching my race. Wasn't aware that a single man going to a restaurant to have a burger, rings and beer constituted a marriage proposal. I shift managed a Taco Bell store for 3 1/2 years back in the nineties while I was in college. My point about this brief piece of biography? Even though it was eons ago, I still remember what it was like to work in the food industry and the associated stress levels of being slammed during peak hours. My experience in the food industry makes me highly respect food service workers, especially now and after COVID. I like this Sickie's Garage location here in Vegas. I love the food. I love the atmosphere. I intend to come here again the next time my burger and fries craving returns. When I do return, I am going to make sure that I bring another person with me into the restaurant. That way, all of the ladies in the store will not have to manifest unnecessary perceptions in their heads that I am in the store to hit on them, and I will not have to worry about...
Read moreIn the heart of Las Vegas's pulsating Town Square, an extraordinary culinary revelation awaits those fortunate enough to wander into the immersive realm of Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews. This gastronomic shelter, disguised as an Arcadian car mechanic shop turned burger sanctuary, transcends the conventional and delivers an experience that is nothing short of jaw-dropping.
However, I was instantly transported to a different era upon entering the restaurant. The immersive interior decor exuded a bygone charm that was a true testament to the fine craftsmanship of the establishment. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped in an experience that was nothing short of magical. The fusion of a classic car mechanic's ambiance with the allure of a clandestine speakeasy set the stage for an afternoon of culinary enchantment I will not soon forget.
The gastronomic odyssey began with the Tater Kegs—a sublime overture to the consonance of umami that awaited. These oversized tater tots, akin to gourmet treasure chests, were a revelation of indulgence. Stuffed with smoky bacon that whispered of open flames, oozing cheddar that danced provocatively with the bacon, and a generous sprinkle of chives, the Tater Kegs were an homage to the art of decadence. Each bite was a journey that transcended the ordinary, leaving me speechless and craving for more.
The acme arrived in the form of the Patty Melt—an opulent creation that defied the boundaries of the conventional burger. Served on Texas toast, the patty melt was a composition of sheer brilliance. The patty, a medley of perfectly seasoned beef, was a tribute to culinary mastery. Sauteed onions, their caramelized allure permeating the air, formed an aromatic harmony with the American cheese that draped the patty in a velvety embrace. Encased within the golden-brown perfection of Texas toast, each bite was a revelation—an orchestration of flavors that knocked me back in my chair, leaving me momentarily suspended in a gustatory reverie.
Beyond the gastronomic enchantment, Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews offers an experience transcending the mundane. The attentive staff, exuding a passion for their craft, guided their craft, which was evident in every detail of the service. Their seamless dance of service drove the evening, making it an unforgettable experience. The restaurant's ambiance was nothing short of amazing, where nostalgia and contemporary allure fused to create an immersive dining experience that whispered of both yesteryears and the promise of culinary innovation.
In conclusion, Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews is not merely a restaurant; it is a literary opus, a narrative of culinary wonderment that reaches the hearts of those fortunate enough to partake. The Tater Kegs and Patty Melt, each a chapter in this epicurean tale, stand as monuments to the profound artistry that elevates comfort food to a symphony of flavors. This establishment is a testament to the transformative power of culinary ingenuity, where each visit is an invitation to embark on a journey through time and taste—an experience that lingers in the soul and resonates in the collective memory of all touched...
Read moreMy sister has been trying to get me to come here, and I'm glad she did! I love burgers and fries. That's one of my favorite meals, so this place had been on my radar for a while. The only reason I hadn't come to try it was the location. We decided to do a little shopping today (Black Friday) and decided we would end it with Sickies since we were in a nearby shopping center. The place was surprisingly not too busy, and it's right next to the Town Square little jungle gym area. There were only 2 of us for a 2pm-ish lunch, and we got a table right away. From what I could see, the place looked pretty big. We got a small table right up front since we were a small party, so it was a little hard to see the seating going back. The decor is really cool, a mix of memorabilia type things and old car stuff.
I got the beer cheese burger with fries. The burger had a pretzel bun (omg yum!!), beer cheese, croutons, and green onion ($15). It was really good! I thought it would be way messier, but I was very surprised at how much cheese there was without it being globbed on and hard to handle. The fries were really good! I'm not a fan of thick fries or steak fries, and this place had normal fries that were extra crispy, my favorite! You get a choice of side with the burgers, so I went with fries, and you can get a seasoning on them (salt, ranch seasoning, all spice, etc.). I had the strawberry lemonade to drink, which wasn't anything to write home about. My sister got the black and bleu burger with fries ($20). She got the strawberry shake ($6) to drink, which she loved. Together, we spent just under $50, which isn't bad at all for a sit-down restaurant with really good food!
Our waitress was Christina and she was lovely! She was super nice, attentive, and quick. She also had an awesome personal style. I love seeing places that let their employees be themselves! We had great service and great food. When ordering, I was debating between the burger I got, the wild hog burger, and 2 of the mashed potato bowls. So, I think it is safe to say I will be coming back to try multiple...
