Albee's N.Y. Gyros — Restaurant in Eugene

I had gone to other location, being first time before going here because of immediately upon walking in I could tell the meat was not fresh or customer service was not good..and music was too loud...So i drove out of my way to try this location..Aside from the blatantly mentally ill women who was sitting in the outdoor seating area who came to harass me and wanted me to buy her something, and I wanted to sit outside, the gyro Nicholas made was good...and fresh and wrapped nice..we chatted about the NYC map being out of date, the original location of Albee's and the food, he was a hard worker and loaded a new Gyro spit right when I was walking...If I had not been disturbed but the messed up druggie woman outside and had there beeb someone to kick her out. It would have been excellent....Thankfully. I have spent some time in ghetto's and bad areas awash with people like that woman. So I could handle myself....I like that the employee mentioned how there could be a line our of the door during lunch and dinner rushes...and after I finished my meal, three or four people went in and ordered, so the food here is good but the portion size is just okay..Soda's are $2.50,but they had one...

The Greek food speaks for itself. The Gyros were fantastic and the garlic fries were popping hot. The Tzaziki sauce was a great compliment to both. The gyros salad was a generous portion and we were impressed by the ample bottle soda selection and punch program.

The bad

The hotdogs could have been excellent. They were large and reminded me of the street cart dogs in NYC. These however were extremely over cooked and somewhat burnt. This was very disappointing and my eldest daughter quote "I can't get that taste out of my mouth".

It pains me to write a mediocre review because we love to support our small local business first but the service was not very friendly or welcoming and came off a little rude. After spending a little over 60 dollars we did not feel our business was appreciated. For this reason we most likely will unfortunately not be back to support...

My partner's birthday is on Valentine's Day. He also coaches basketball for 5th grade girls Needless to say, not only did he have practice that night, but it is extra hard to plan a family outing on this day & Many resturants close early, the sit down locations are PACKED with couples celebrating the holiday. We were turned away by 2 different locations before we came here! The staff were so nice!! O'Ryan(?) was friendly, personable and made for easy conversation. We ended up dining-in after 8:00PM and the atmosphere was welcoming and inviting the whole time! Food was VERY good, super hot when we got it and very fresh! We have been going here for a couple of years now and it is one of our favorite spots, but this experience was extra special. Thank you to the evening staff on Valentines day! Y'all...
