I actually went here for a comedy show Steve Hoffsteter. So I'm not positive how it's normally set up. Although my friends and I sat at a table that was in its normal location. The restaurant seemed clean. I only say seemed because I never had to use the restroom. My friends and I came early to the show so we could get some pizza. We ordered our pizza at the register. The menu's were by the register. Again, this was during the set up for a comedy show, so the environment was different than usual. After ordering, we sat down at the table I had mentioned. Upon sitting down a guy who worked there came over. He was, the best way to put it would be, jumpy. He asked us if we were there for the comedy show. We said yes. He then told us we couldn't sit at that table for the comedy show and that we'd have to leave once we were done eating and re-enter. Which we all thought was really odd. The man was not a good ambassador for the restaurant. And was in fact wrong about everything he had just told us.
The pizza was 4/5. I say that based on the flop. It didn't have a strong crust. Which I enjoy. Otherwise it was good. An older gentleman (I say that because the other guy was younger) came up to us before we were done eating with a clipboard and asked us if we were there for the show. We responded yes. He then asked us our names so he could check us off as present for the show. No need to re-enter the venue. We then went and sat in one of the chairs lined up for the show. Only to find out later that we could've stayed at our original spot. I did end up seeing the original guy again after the show. He was collecting chairs. He was collecting chairs at the fastest pace almost possible. I say almost because there was still people sitting in some of them. The line was long for merchandise so some people chose to stay seated or just chat amongst themselves about the show. We were in the back row and left less than a minute after the show ended. Yet this guy was inches away from us before we even stood up. Working hard and having a sense of urgency is one thing. What this guy was doing was completely different. His entire vibe was the absolute opposite of the completely chill cordial guy who checked us in. 3 minutes into sitting down the original guy gave us a vibe like we did something to him, just hostile.
Anyways, the place was suitable for a comedy show and it was my first time. It would've been a better experience if not for that...
Read moreI'm not sure what I was expecting when I first walked in but my son and I were a bit surprised. My first impression was that it looked more like a bar than a pizza place. We went in because of the happy hour which I believe is daily (or possibly just weekdays) from 3-5. There was a placard on the sidewalk advertising the happy hour as including $1 cheese slices and beverage specials as well. Unfortunately, upon entering, I did not see any additional information about the happy hour offerings. I would like to have known what the drink specials were, but I very much dislike having to ask. Anyway the pizza was good and you could add toppings to the slices for 50¢ for meat and 25¢ for vegetables per slice. So, with the happy hour special, a slice with pepperoni and mushrooms was $1.75 which is a pretty good deal except that they were fairly small. Given the size, I don't think that it's any better of a deal than the normally priced slices at nearby Sizzle Pie which are significantly larger, but it's a different atmosphere and if you aren't super hungry it's a good deal for a snack or light meal. It's also a really good deal for the plain cheese. As far as the atmosphere, as I said before, it was different. It was a big open space shared with a coffee place with a variety of different types of seating areas and I believe there were some games around. There was a very large chess game on our table (around 2ft by 2ft). There was a stage and high ceilings open through the rafters...
Read moreWent in for the regular science pub and asked for a menu, was pointed to a sign with three things on it. I asked about the menus they used to have and was informed (rather coldly) that they "were a venue now." But you could still order a large cheese pizza for $21 plus extra for each topping. Okay... I ordered one with 2.5 toppings and it came to $28.50. The salads were $9 each. are you serious? Not worth it at all! Literally any other place in town except Sizzle Pie and chains have better pizza for better prices. Also, it seems the one who took my order was too busy being snarky at me to set the food alert blinker thing right--it never went off, and by the time my friend went to inquire what was taking so long, the pizza had cooled to lukewarm and they told us they'd been looking for us (not very hard apparently). I guess considering all this it makes sense for them to move away from food. It wasn't even all that great before when they had their full menu either. I'm not sure why they're trying to focus so hard on being a venue, though, because the seating for it is pretty bizarre, the WOW hall is just down the street and the acoustics aren't great either. Anyway, there's also a sign that seems to proudly advertise "ice cold water" for $2.50, in keeping with the move toward venue-ship and rip-you-off prices. Oh well. At least when I went there was still a free water dispenser. When I come back for future science pubs I'm not going to bother with the food anymore and just...
