I was going to wait to try this new place because typically new places need to iron the kinks out. But after reading so many rave Google reviews, we decided to try it.
I called to see if they made reservations. She said they did and we made one for 7pm that same night. We showed up and they had no reservation for me. That wasn't such a big deal because they could seat us right away. After some investigation it turns out their website calls the wrong number when you select the Euless location. We brought it to the managers attention.
The music is way to loud. We couldn't hear each other talking while we waited 20 minutes for a server (which we had to flag down someone to get their attention).
When our server, Monica, arrived we couldn't hear her over the music. She also had a hard time hearing us. If your staff can't hear the customers, it's TOO LOUD!
My sister ordered the Paloma. She loved it. I had the pink coconut drink, it was good but very sweet. They do not have fresh brewed iced tea, FYI. My boyfriend ordered the Michelada. By the time it arrived to our table most of the ice had melted and the drink was very watered down. It took way too long to get our drinks.
We ordered queso flameado as a starter. I'm not being dramatic when I say it was less than 1/2 cup of queso for $10!! (See photo) The menu says it has onions, tomatoes and jalapeños. Nope. It was just cheese. Boring, mealy cheese. She brought it out in a regular bowl and then put it in a hot plate at our table. Not sure what the show was for. At this point, we still had NO chips, salsa, plates or even napkins and silverware! Why would you bring queso and no chips?? Are we supposed to eat it with our fingers?? When I asked about chips she said "I'll bring them". At this point, our party of 5 was fed up so I went to get the manager, Jonathan. He had ZERO sympathy. He didn't even grunt. So I went back to the table. I took napkins and silverware from another table. It was about 5 minutes after she brought the queso before we got chips. And when she brought chips there was no salsa with them. Their menu says "house made chips and salsa daily". I highly doubt these are house made. They were stale, cold and that fake red and green color. This next statement might shock you, but she didn't bring any salsa with the one bowl of chips - for 5 people. We asked for salsa and she brought a 1/4 cup of salsa - for 5 people!! (See photo) She kind of scoffed when I asked for more salsa. My brother-in-law said "there are 5 of us". In what world would you bring one tiny container of salsa for 5 people??
We asked for our check and left. Monica asked "Why?"
The decor was beautiful. That's all I can say that's good.
We went to Muchacho in Southlake and has a fabulous dinner!
FYI: we later checked Yelp and their reviews...
Read moreSadly Issa no for me dawg. They broke my one and only deal breaker within 5 min of sitting down. Salsa is literally my #1 favorite reason for going to Mexican places. They serve that hot salsa. I can't do it. We were a party of 4 and we immediately asked for room temperature salsa. The waitress didn't seem to understand what we meant so she brought the manager who immediately took away the salsa and chips. What was eventually brought out was chips that looked more like pita chips but about the size of cheezits and a bottle of cold green sauce like what you'd get from an authentic Mexican taqueria. This was odd to us. So we told the waitress again , we want that same salsa, just don't want it hot like soup. Why can't we get cold or room temp?.She leaves again and comes back to say the manager says they can't serve it that way because it would be raw. O_o So now that I am writing this review I'm thinking... Question 1 I should've asked, what kind of salsa must be cooked first???? What's in it that can make customers sick if not cooked??? and question 2 ok so after you cook it, why can't you let batches cool down to room temperature and then serve it to those customers that don't want soup for salsa??? I don't get it. Hopefully you can see the picture i took of it. There's literally steam coming from it. We also thought there was hair in it but was told it was just from the cilantro. I got the empanadas as the app. That was pretty tasty but from there I'd say the actual meal was just ok. None of us were like oh this is good. The fajitas see pic...were mostly veggies with a few chunks of meat. Mom was quite annoyed by this. Two in the group got the chimichangas...said they were bland. I got my second all time reason for going to any Mexican place- Enchiladas. They're my absolute fav but here, they were also lacking in flavor and they put POTATOES in their meat mixture. Noooooooo. I usually try to give places a 2nd try and get something different on the menu but I won't be back just because of the salsa alone. Service was slow though they weren't busy. DECOR IS 5 STARS THOUGH :) ** I had to come back and update the other thing I just remembered ...their drinks. I don't know they tasted strange. The menu says coke, Dr Pepper, sprite but we all commented that they don't taste like what they're called. So either their soda machines need to be recalibrated or maybe they're using the versions of these brand sodas with real sugar and often times those taste funny since unfortunately we're used to the high fructose corn syrup versions. For me my Dr Pepper tasted more closer to a Mr Pibb with a strong cherry flavor. I didn't taste the Sprite but I just recall them saying this is not...
Read moreWe were excited to try the Reserve in Euless. We live close by and thought it would be nice to have an "authentic" Mexican restaurant nearby.
The place looks nice. We got there around 6 on a Tuesday to have a drink and maybe some apps to try the place out. We went in and the place was about 80-90% empty. However, it was early.
We went to the bar. It was fairly empty except most of the places had dirty glasses and plates that had not been cleared. We cleared a space for ourselves since no one else seemed interested in doing so. Two gentlemen were behind the bar talking. Neither came over. They both walked away a few minutes later. One came back about 8-10 minutes after that but never looked our way. Even though there was 4 people total at the bar, we eventually had to flag him down to order a drink. I am not sure what he was doing. He was not clearing the dirty places.
We ordered a house Margarita and a frozen margarita. He did not get the order right despite being very straightforward. The house Margarita had a weird chemical taste. The frozen margarita a fake sugar sweetness to it.
We both ordered a different drink for our second. I ordered a draft beer that was not overly cold. Slightly below room temperature.
To order the second drink we also had to wave the bartender down despite it being so slow. There was another person that wondered around behind the bar with a black fan. However, I am not sure what he was doing. He never seemed to serve a customer. There was also a women who stood at the end of the bar looking at her phone.
When we asked for our bill, we thought it looked too low. The bartender said it was correct when we asked. He ran our credit card and we once again said we think it only included two of our four drinks. He then looks at the receipt and he looked surprised. We were only charged for the two original drinks. We offered to pay for the other drinks but he said that he already ran our card and not worry about it.
How service can be that bad when there are so few customers is a little mind boggling. Hustle and service were not yet ingrained into the staff.
We looked at the menu. The "authentic" Mexican food included chicken wings, shrimp cocktail and hamburgers.
Sadly, we will be giving the Reserve a hard pass...
