travis was my shuttle driver and he was chill. very nice, drove in the middle of the lane, played tunes that got my morning blood pumpin, with a gentle side of nostalgia, and as the sun came up in east, peaking through a godly photonic expression of MORELIFE, the parting of the clouds started to fill the deep void in my soul that leaving the La Quinta had carved. Never in my life have I felt a deeper sense of belonging. I was sent to the hotel because the airline had delayed my flight a day, and La Quinta stepped right in, and they held me as I cried shimmering river tears where colorless disappointment meets the lonliness of a shattered modernity. La quinta could feel the culture of Dallas dripping into my open pores, a cloud of suspended isolation, each particle further and further from each other, helplessly expanded by the force of belief, the belief in the material as god, as though this life is made of things, atoms they call them. as though the substance of this life is simply the meaningless bouncing around of objects, instead of the searing depth of experience of these objects, the love, joy, pain, loss, infinite surrender to change we must all endure. And so when I walked in, La Quinta could see this in my eyes, and they put their loving arms around me, every single la quinta who was ever served, across time and space, cohering into a single lobby room spirit angel of comfort, a misty apparation of understanding. They decorated the entire space with the most perfect reflection of this isolation, in order to prepare me for the next step. the carpets, chairs, entirely vapid artwork, ceiling tiles, lights, decor, were all clearly totemic archetypes of the gods we all pray to, these industrially mined materials, doing their best to displace entire ecosystems, cultures, languages, biologies, relations, in an effort to dismiss the earth as simply resource. to reject its reality as a living, breathing, fully conscious life force, and submit it to a silent nothing, fully stripped of its interconnected essence, to be taken, reshaped, and forced into a plastic chair who knows all bodies as a passing anxiety. they knew that this lobby was for warriors. as i sat at the altar in the room, some sort of large screen designed to exude moving images of hate, despair, dissociation, and scarcity, i could feel the la quinta angels humming around my tired shoulders, whispering into my ears "keep going, you got this, it is only the beginning, you are held". i opened the individually packaged soap bar in the bathroom, packaged just for me. and as i threw the plastic wrapper into the trash, i knew that the gods would accept my offering with grace. tomorrow they would take my plastic, along with the plastic bag in the plastic bin meant to cradle my gift, to the landfill. the most sacred of all human expressions. where we take everything we make, with the purest intentions in our heart, to pile together, and do nothing, just like god intended. i crawl back in bed, and feel my childhood rush into my drooping eyes, as the ai generated abstractions of legoland cityscapes comforts my becoming warrior into the capitalist dreamstate the angels whispered of. thank you la quinta for keeping me safe, may i continue to endure this expression. and shout out to...
Read moreDO NOT TAKE THE SHUTTLE. Get a Lyft or uber to and from the hotel.
When I called and spoke on the phone to the front desk at this LaQuinta the guy got mad at me and also put the incorrect name down for my pick up. He also gave the incorrect shutting pick up location to me while I was at the airport. Waited 20 minutes. I had to chase down the shuttle drive with my luggage when I saw him zoom by. The same front desk guy that late evening was short and fast on the phone with the LaQuinta driver. He also decided to not provide proper clear information on other guests to be picked up. It took over 1 hour to get to the hotel. The LA Quinta shuttle driver is very nice by the way, left him a tip.
At the hotel, front sliding doors jam up so you have to slide them open manually. The building construction is poorly done. Looks like a fairly new building. There are signs all over the building of this poor quality control. I took a few photos.
The front desk guy that evening was over worked and under staffed it was only him there he was rushing to check people in person, call the shuttle, and take calls for hotel check in. Food was sparse and mostly junk food. Use your meal vouchers at the airport. I think he was getting upset with people because he was under pressure.
The water tank for guests was nearly empty and warm with no ice that night.
I was exhausted and rushed when told how to get to my hotel room by the front desk guy.
The room was okay but not as good as my stay at a Quality Inn
I realized that I couldn't control the AC in the room due to no controller and manual controls didn't work. Pillows appeared to be feather.
I woke up at 6am to someone who previously had set the bedside alarm on for 6 am.
In the morning I came to learn that the front desk did not inform me I was supposed to sign up for the shuttle pick up in the morning. I had to pay for a lyft instead.
Front desk staff in the morning seemed okay to me. There was 3 people there. Water container was refilled with ice. Breakfast was okay but not healthy.
On the good side The hotel is fairly clean, location is not that far from the airport. The room was fairly queit. Bed is good enough.
What needs to happen? More than 1 person front desk staff late evening / night.
Slow down with your guests, speak to them, welcome them, be friendly.
Offer healthy food that isn't just processed junk.
Be sure to slow down and communicate much more clearly with the LA Quinta driving staff for passenger pick ups and guests as to where they need to be when at the airport for pick up. Let guests know when they check in about the sheet for morning shuttle pick up. Make sure the alarms in the rooms are turned off. Just the clock left on.
If you want to go the extra mile, fix the cracks on the elevator floor, fix the sliding door problems on the front of the building. Clean up the residue and problems from the original construction of the building. Offer functionality to the AC unit in the hotel room.
I got this hotel because My AA flight was rebooked for the next day. I took pictures of the room when I arrived and...
