I would strongly advise against visiting this place, at least during this time of year. If you're in a small group, consider trying elsewhere, as you'll likely be completely ignored. We went there to celebrate our anniversary, but our experience was ruined from the start.
First, we were served appetizers, but our server never bothered to check if the food was correct or if we needed anything. She didn’t even offer us plates for our appetizers. We waited for about 10 minutes hoping she would swing by so we could ask for plates, but she was too busy tending to a large table. We ended up eating our appetizers directly from the serving plate.
When it was time to order our entrées, they messed up one of the orders. Again, the server didn’t check in to see if everything was okay. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I had to get her attention by raising my hand. She finally took the dish back to be remade, and the manager came to inform me of the mistake (which I appreciated), but when the dish came back, they messed it up again. We had ordered a salad with a few ingredients removed and a dressing switch, but the first time they didn’t change the dressing, and the second time they didn’t remove the ingredients as requested and completely left out the dressing.
To top it off, the server took away the fork that came with the dish while taking the dish away to be remade and never brought it back with the order (which is still fine but never came back to check either). After waiting a while longer, I had to go to the kitchen area to ask someone to send her to our table. Our server mentioned that the kitchen was making mistakes and that they were busier than usual, but that's no excuse for neglecting basic customer service, like checking if the food was correct or if guests needed anything.
If you're looking for a pleasant experience where you're not left waiting for your server, I highly recommend looking elsewhere like Lazydog (way better service than this). If you're in a large group, maybe you'll get better service, but definitely avoid this place if you're a couple or small group.

Read moreEdit: I misspoke in my initial review. I highly recommend the seasonal (read no longer available) seared ahi appetizer... not necessarily the poke stack (not that it isn't good!) but updating, months later without much change. Had a Manhattan and the grilled Atlantic Salmon. Everything is delicious, as always, but I can't click the fifth star because the portion of salmon for a $25 entree of salmon is lacking in substance. Even id f cooked and seasoned well. At the same time around I find myself wondering "is there a better option within reasonable distance?" For that question I still don't know. But the competition in Southern CA would force this out of business quickly, as well done as all the meals are. I'm torn, I still love every bite, but feel like I'm overpaying at the same time. 🤷🏼♂️
I'd still say come at least once. There's a reason I'm back months later, and it's not the first time in between. Service is always great too. Shoutout to Liz tonight. Not bothersome but professional and attentive. Couldn't ask for more.
Overall great. Have been several times and will be back. Highly recommend trying at least once if you haven't. It's just more of a date spot than somewhere to make a regular visit too.
Alex makes an amazing Manhattan and is 100% why the service is rated 5 stars on my review. Friendly, knowledgeable, and generally fun to converse with - he's there for lunches and early afternoon. Always pleasant interactions with other staff as well, but he's a standout.
I only drop one star as it always feels just a little bit pricy for what it is. This is especially true for the markup on things like a truly seltzer and similar pre-packaged, unprepared products. I consume a lot, and have spent well over $50/person here more than once, up to $100/person with tip. There are places in Southlake I'd rather go for that...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute Perfection at Thirsty Lion!
If there were a way to give more than five stars, I’d do it in a heartbeat! Dining at the Thirsty Lion was already a treat, but Liz and Evelyn transformed the entire experience into something unforgettable.
From the moment I sat down, Liz greeted me with the kind of warmth that makes you feel like you’ve been invited into a dear friend’s home. Her energy, attentiveness, and genuine kindness set the tone for the whole evening. Evelyn matched that magic with flawless timing, incredible professionalism, and a sense of fun that made every interaction sparkle. Together, they’re the dream team of hospitality—think Michelin star service with the heart of your favorite neighborhood pub.
Not a single detail slipped through the cracks. Drinks refilled before I even realized I needed them, recommendations that turned out to be spot on (seriously, trust them—you’ll thank yourself later), and the kind of teamwork you rarely see these days. It felt like watching a perfectly choreographed dance, except the choreography is making guests feel like royalty.
Liz and Evelyn aren’t just servers—they’re mood-lifters, memory-makers, and the reason I’ll be telling everyone I know to run (not walk) to the Thirsty Lion. If management is reading this: please know you’ve struck gold with these two. Give them medals, crowns, or at the very least a parade in their honor!
Bottom line: The food was fantastic, but Liz and Evelyn were the true stars of the night. Can’t wait to come back and bask in their world-class...
