I would strongly advise against visiting this place, at least during this time of year. If you're in a small group, consider trying elsewhere, as you'll likely be completely ignored. We went there to celebrate our anniversary, but our experience was ruined from the start.

First, we were served appetizers, but our server never bothered to check if the food was correct or if we needed anything. She didn’t even offer us plates for our appetizers. We waited for about 10 minutes hoping she would swing by so we could ask for plates, but she was too busy tending to a large table. We ended up eating our appetizers directly from the serving plate.

When it was time to order our entrées, they messed up one of the orders. Again, the server didn’t check in to see if everything was okay. After another 10 minutes of waiting, I had to get her attention by raising my hand. She finally took the dish back to be remade, and the manager came to inform me of the mistake (which I appreciated), but when the dish came back, they messed it up again. We had ordered a salad with a few ingredients removed and a dressing switch, but the first time they didn’t change the dressing, and the second time they didn’t remove the ingredients as requested and completely left out the dressing.

To top it off, the server took away the fork that came with the dish while taking the dish away to be remade and never brought it back with the order (which is still fine but never came back to check either). After waiting a while longer, I had to go to the kitchen area to ask someone to send her to our table. Our server mentioned that the kitchen was making mistakes and that they were busier than usual, but that's no excuse for neglecting basic customer service, like checking if the food was correct or if guests needed anything.

If you're looking for a pleasant experience where you're not left waiting for your server, I highly recommend looking elsewhere like Lazydog (way better service than this). If you're in a large group, maybe you'll get better service, but definitely avoid this place if you're a couple or small group.

If there was an option to give zero...

Edit: I misspoke in my initial review. I highly recommend the seasonal (read no longer available) seared ahi appetizer... not necessarily the poke stack (not that it isn't good!) but updating, months later without much change. Had a Manhattan and the grilled Atlantic Salmon. Everything is delicious, as always, but I can't click the fifth star because the portion of salmon for a $25 entree of salmon is lacking in substance. Even id f cooked and seasoned well. At the same time around I find myself wondering "is there a better option within reasonable distance?" For that question I still don't know. But the competition in Southern CA would force this out of business quickly, as well done as all the meals are. I'm torn, I still love every bite, but feel like I'm overpaying at the same time. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'd still say come at least once. There's a reason I'm back months later, and it's not the first time in between. Service is always great too. Shoutout to Liz tonight. Not bothersome but professional and attentive. Couldn't ask for more.

Overall great. Have been several times and will be back. Highly recommend trying at least once if you haven't. It's just more of a date spot than somewhere to make a regular visit too.

Alex makes an amazing Manhattan and is 100% why the service is rated 5 stars on my review. Friendly, knowledgeable, and generally fun to converse with - he's there for lunches and early afternoon. Always pleasant interactions with other staff as well, but he's a standout.

I only drop one star as it always feels just a little bit pricy for what it is. This is especially true for the markup on things like a truly seltzer and similar pre-packaged, unprepared products. I consume a lot, and have spent well over $50/person here more than once, up to $100/person with tip. There are places in Southlake I'd rather go for that...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute Perfection at Thirsty Lion!

If there were a way to give more than five stars, I’d do it in a heartbeat! Dining at the Thirsty Lion was already a treat, but Liz and Evelyn transformed the entire experience into something unforgettable.

From the moment I sat down, Liz greeted me with the kind of warmth that makes you feel like you’ve been invited into a dear friend’s home. Her energy, attentiveness, and genuine kindness set the tone for the whole evening. Evelyn matched that magic with flawless timing, incredible professionalism, and a sense of fun that made every interaction sparkle. Together, they’re the dream team of hospitality—think Michelin star service with the heart of your favorite neighborhood pub.

Not a single detail slipped through the cracks. Drinks refilled before I even realized I needed them, recommendations that turned out to be spot on (seriously, trust them—you’ll thank yourself later), and the kind of teamwork you rarely see these days. It felt like watching a perfectly choreographed dance, except the choreography is making guests feel like royalty.

Liz and Evelyn aren’t just servers—they’re mood-lifters, memory-makers, and the reason I’ll be telling everyone I know to run (not walk) to the Thirsty Lion. If management is reading this: please know you’ve struck gold with these two. Give them medals, crowns, or at the very least a parade in their honor!

Bottom line: The food was fantastic, but Liz and Evelyn were the true stars of the night. Can’t wait to come back and bask in their world-class...

I visited for St Patrick's Day. Lovely Irish Menu and drink specials.. Even better, $1 of each featured drink went to a children's cancer charity..I work in Oncology, so I thought this was very special. I had the corned beef and cabbage special.. Food was a bit pricier than I usually go for, but let me tell you.. Worth every penny! I really got a plateful, and the beef was fork tender, and flavorful.. Also got some roasted cabbage and cheddar chive potatoes, and a side of delicious horseradish sauce. The beef had a drizzle of stone ground mustard sauce.. Perfect! I had the Irish mule to drink, and got the whiskey cherry bread pudding to go.. All in all, after leaving a generous tip ( top notch service), I got out for about $50.. It was a wonderful treat, and I look forward to visiting again soon to see the usual menu. I left my phone in car.. Wish I could've shared a pic of my entree.. Lovely presentation! UPDATE 10/11/23: Tony, with help from Kelly, were my servers this evening.. Tony did an amazing job.. He and Kelly made me feel welcome, and very well cared for. I dined alone, but with such great service, I really didn't feel alone. I highly recommend the gastropub Burger.. Heaven on a plate! I don't usually go for the burgers, but who can resist peppered bacon, caramelized onion, horseradish cream on a ciabatta roll? The beef was perfectly cooked to the temperature I requested. Espresso martini..double highly recommend.. It's truly amazing.. Stunning to look at, but the taste is even better.. Amazing! I love Thirsty Lion.. Always a winner!

3.3 stars. 1st time to visit this location. Employees that greeted us for our late lunch were not particularly chatty nor warm. We observed them appearing bored throughout our meal as our table was near the entrance. Samantha V was our server and did her best to take care of us. It appeared that she had quite a few tables and was working hard to keep up. For appetizers, we went with the Crispy Calamari ($16.95) and Spicy Fried Cauliflower ($11.50). Calamari was largely made up of small pieces and a bit over fried, thus being very chewy. Cauliflower was delicious as remembered and a table favorite. Wife had the Ahi Poke Salad Bowl ($16.95) which she absolutely loved. Sons had the Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($16.95) and Fried Chicken Mac and Cheese ($19.50). Unfortunately, neither of these excited our sons as they commented both dishes lacked flavor and were disappointing. I opted for the Smoked Pork Ramen ($19.95) which was a letdown too. The noodles were more pho style noodles while the ramen broth was more a clear broth heavy on chili pepper flakes and veggies. After we finished, it took a bit to get our check as Samantha was busy going from table to table. All-in with tip ran us $132.60 for lunch.

In between baseball games, trying to find a place with options for the family and keep it light for the ball player so we chose to try the Thirsty Lion. It was a fun atmosphere with plenty of seating and TVs. we happened to make it during happy hour which I loved bc it wasn’t happy hour for just drinks but food too. There were quite a few items of variety for everyone. Again, Trying to stay on the lighter side, we ordered the garlic edamame, spicy tuna roll and calamari for apps. Then for entrees, we had chicken Caesar salad, California Rolls, Poke stack and Salmon w/veggies. Honestly, the items we probably would not order again would be the garlic edamame-they had a lot of sauce but really didn’t have the flavor. The spicy Tuna Roll was pretty good but didn’t have the kick we were looking for. However, I will say the Salmon and veggies were cooked just right and had so much flavor! Maybe we ordered the wrong items, maybe we had higher expectations. Either way, we will probably go back another time and try the other items on the menu that are more “pub” foods.
