My family and I went to Belk the day of my cousin's birthday to buy her a $300 herringbone necklace, and when walking to the jewelry section, we were treated with the utmost disrespect. As soon as we approached the counter, the lady told us we needed to go to the front to check out, mind you, we did not have a single thing in our hands and we had just walked in. When we let her know that we were looking at the jewelry and that we wanted to see the herringbones, she brought out one that did not fit my cousin's neck and she requested a longer one. When my cousin asked was there a longer one, she immediately said No. My cousin had already looked online and online it showed that there was one available at the store, so she went online purchased the necklace, and let the lady know that it was purchased and that it was available for pickup right there, and right now. The lady let us know that she would have to go to the back to get it, but immediately turned around, went under the counter and grabbed the one my cousin had purchased and handed it to her. We were all confused. When she handed her the necklace, she tried it on to be sure it fit comfortably. She again, let the lady know it was purchased, but reached quickly for my cousin's neck to grab the necklace to let her know that it needed to be confirmed that it was purchased and that it would take maybe 30 minutes so we would have to wait a while and come back to pick the necklace up. So my cousins and I went to the front, asked for the manager, which she and her husband had worked with plenty of times to buy watches from ( and he immediately recognized both of them ), they let him know what happened, and he apologized, went to the jewelry counter, grabbed the necklace, brought it to us, apologized again, and we left.
It seemed very off that the lady treated us the way she did. I'm not aware of her name, but I do know that she treated us as if we weren't worth her time. I've had these situations happen plenty of times, and majority of the times, these have been due to my ethnicity. She treated the Caucasian lady that was there before us as if she was greater than us. These situations should be expired by now. I'm not sure how the store manger handled her, but I do hope he had a full conversation with her and let her know that it was wrong and disrespectful. Whatever the case, the necklace was bought, it's very nice, and she was able to be...

Experience at the store was less than good⌠The number of baskets available were 3 (asked another customer who had one and she said the same) Most of the baskets we found were being used to stockpile clothes at the cash registers, so it was a major inconvenience to carry 15 items around a giant dept. store. Anyway, most people with kids know that in order to have a successful shopping trip you have to keep them entertained. If you donât have kids, then you donât know and thatâs fine. Whatâs not fine, is when my daughter and I are not disturbing anyone and saying Marco Polo and you get upset because âMarcoâ sounds close to âMargotâ and yell out to us âDonât be calling that out, because thatâs my nameâ and give me a stank face. Sure I understand if we were yelling it across the store, however we were right next to each other and it was funny to my daughter. Most people who think they hear their name would be like âOh, theyâre not talking to meâ and go about their business.. but NOOOOO. Clearly customer service isnât Margotâs strong point, and shouldnât be working in retail/customer service.
So Margot, Iâm sorry that you are so disturbed by your name and the game of Marco Polo. Iâm sorry if you have some unresolved trauma in your life. But iâm not sorry for keeping my daughter happy, and iâm not sorry for any of the other things I said that were DEFINITELY louder than the initial thing that set you off. Next time we go to Belk, we will still play...
Read moreVery poor customer service. We went to the first customer service desk to make a return of some clothing items that were Christmas gifts, no employees to be found. We then walked to the next customer service desk and waited in line. There was a woman and her daughter in front of us who I'd say a much better experience than we did. The employee greeted them, went out of her way to help with any coupons they had, nicely bagged up their things and proceeded to tell the woman to have a good weekend. My experience? I was not greeted. I simply told her I needed to make a return. She asked for my receipt as she hastily dumped the clothing items out of the bag and onto the counter. I handed her my receipt. She did not tell me how much money she was giving me back after she took the clothes and threw them onto the counter behind her. She handed me the money with my receipts. I said, "thank you." In return her reply was, "mmhmm."
I would not recommend this...
