I am only leaving 2 stars because the food was amazing! BUT, our waitress had a horrible attitude. Not only was she short with us, she was disorganized and slightly passive-aggressive. I don't normally leave reviews. I'm leaving this in hopes that the manager will read this. When we walked in there, there were only 2 other 2-tops. There was no reason for her treating us like she didn't have time to answer our questions about the menu and drinks. We didn't get our drinks until after waiting for 10 minutes and we had to get her attention. She forgot our drinks, brought us 1 white chocolate milk, (we ordered 2), made with coffee flavoring to pass for chocolate milk. My husband tried it and couldn't even drink it. Then when we thought she was going to make the other one for our daughter we got her attention to tell her to not make it, come to find out- she wasn't making anything for our daughter anyway! At this point she had another lady dropping off drinks to us and that girl had a poor attitude as well! The gentleman waiter on staff was great with his tables! My husband and I have collectively together 12 years bartending and waiting experience. The 2 females on staff today could not care less about customer service. We had more issues with not having all of our dishes that we ordered being served to us. Our waitress practically argued with us that we had what we ordered, but she read back every item we ordered as she wrote it down. We watched her go get the stabbed ticket and walk towards us, then she turned around and went to get the food that she obviously just read from the ticket. She didn't apologize for her mistake. We didn't get syrup for the pancake, ketchup for the potatoes; and at this point she didn't want to have anything to do with us. We had to bother the other waitress(who was clearly bothered) because our server was ignoring us. Such a horrible customer service experience! We ended our trip here this morning and if it wasn't for the food being top-notch, we would have left this beautiful place on a bad note. We visit multiple times a year! We will be back for the food, but if we end up with the same waitress again, we will be asking for...
Read moreSo not a fan. First off, it is a breakfast place but has self serve coffee. This would be fine in a big open place but this restaurant was absurdly tight. So in these tiny aisles there is a constant flow of wait staff, coffee customers and people going to look through the dark little window to the spring below the dining room.
We were sat in a center table right by the kitchen. A narrow aisle on either side and a narrow table too. This meant that every 30 seconds or so someone brushed up against me. Most of the time this was waitresses. You'd think this would mean attentive service since we had literal contact at least 20 times. Nope. After bringing the food (not the person we ordered from) no one came back to check on us until we were almost done.
This would have been fine if I was happy but my toast was ice cold and floppy and I had never received the cappuccino I ordered in protest of the get-your-own-coffee policy. I got my coffee when I had maybe four bites of food left. The food itself was flavorless. No salt. My mushroom and spinach omelette consisted of what tasted like, canned mushrooms and a handful of unsalted unwilted spinach. It was suppose to come with a cheese of my choice but I was never asked and either sourdough or wheat toast...again never asked. Neither of the defaults were what I would have picked.
My husband liked his food which is the only reason I didnt give 1 star. Bad food, bad layout, bad policies, bad service. I would...
Read moreMud Street Cafe Annex is our favorite place for breakfast in Eureka Springs—and has been for over seven years. Every visit feels like a return to something familiar and comforting. The vibe is relaxed and bohemian, with a casual charm that reflects the personality of the town itself.
This isn’t fine dining, but that’s part of the appeal. The food is unpretentious, made with quality ingredients, and prepared with care. It’s flavorful, consistently good, and never overdone—just solid, well-executed breakfast and lunch fare.
My wife always enjoys the chicken salad, while I stick with the house breakfast and a pancake—hearty, satisfying, and always cooked just right. The presentation is simple but thoughtful.
The staff are part of the experience, too. The waitresses have personality and style—artsy, a bit quirky, sometimes even a little testy—but generally prompt, helpful, and kind. It all adds to the charm and character of the place.
Expect a wait during peak times like holidays, spring break, and summer weekends—but it’s worth it. If you’re looking for a quieter time to visit, late April or early May is ideal: beautiful weather, lighter crowds, and the town in bloom (though you might catch a quick spring rain).
For a laid-back, consistently tasty meal in a setting full of character, Mud Street Cafe Annex stands out. We recommend it over any other breakfast...
