A Symphony of Sophistication at Carter House Inns & Restaurant 301
Review: In the heart of Old Downtown Eureka lies a sanctuary of refined elegance, Carter House Inns & Restaurant 301. My recent sojourn to this esteemed establishment was not merely a visit but an immersion into a world where sophistication and warmth blend seamlessly.
Upon my arrival, the ambiance of Carter House whispered tales of discerning taste and meticulous attention to detail. It was here, at the bar, under the soft, inviting lights, that I had the pleasure of savoring my first American Old Carter. The bartender, a connoisseur of spirits, presented the bourbon with a grace that only added to its rich, complex flavors.
The bar, with its intimate setting, serves as a prelude to the grandeur that unfolds within the restaurant. As an aficionado of fine bourbons and whiskies, the allure of such an event hosted by the masterminds themselves, Sherri and Mark Carter, is irresistible. The prospect of attending a gathering curated by their expert hands is a tantalizing one, promising an evening of unparalleled delight.
As the evening unfolded, the bar became a melting pot of intriguing individuals, each contributing to the tapestry of conversation and camaraderie. The atmosphere was electric with intellectual discourse, a testament to the kind of clientele Carter House Inns & Restaurant 301 attracts. It was in this cozy nook that time seemed to stand still, as what was intended to be a fleeting visit evolved into hours of engaging exchange.
The sophistication of Carter House is not merely in its decor or its beverages but in the ethos it embodies. It is a haven where every detail is a stroke of intention, from the selection of spirits to the symphony of flavors in its cuisine, and most importantly, in the caliber of service provided by the staff. Their professionalism and genuine warmth are the cornerstone of the establishment's charm, making every guest feel not just welcomed, but truly esteemed.
In closing, my experience at Carter House Inns & Restaurant 301 was a rendezvous with elegance. It is with great anticipation that I await the opportunity to delve deeper into the culinary marvels of the restaurant and perhaps, to one day, partake in an exclusive event within its hallowed halls. To the managers and custodians of this fine establishment, I extend my compliments and my earnest hope for a future invitation to explore more of what Carter House has to...
Read moreI have stayed at the carter house on several occasions. Sadly I will no longer be a patron based on my last stay. Closing the restaurant is a big downfall. The life in the inn has become very dull. The charm has faded. Large groups of homeless circle the inn very noisy and disturbing at night especially if you stay in front rooms facing the street. The only offerings for food were stale pastries, yogurt and fruit and canisters of coffee at a self serve station. No service at all to speak of. I would understand this if they adjusted their prices for what they offered. I was there three days. No room cleaning service. I had to bring down my breakfast tray , two days worth, as they sat in my room. The internet is very hit and miss and being there on business I needed the internet. I had to take two meetings in the parking lot in the rain. I work for a large company that use to have traveling employees stay at the carter house. I have no longer recommended a stay to colleagues due to unfortunate and inconsistent service, complete lack of any amenities and unconcerning staff. Last visit I stayed at holiday inn. Far far far superior with full hot breakfast (free) and much better guest services. I am now a patron of the Wyndham Eureka Inn which I highly recommend. Full restaurant with in hotel/room dining and full bar with friendly exceptional staff. Wyndham has done a nice job on rehabilitation of the inn.
I am saddened at how this once friendly and once very charming inn has deteriorated. The lack of in house dining is a huge mistake. The inn should work with the city to minimize homeless gatherings both in front of the inn and on the empty lot next to the inn. Bring back the charm and we...
Read moreUpdate: I'm changing it from 3 stars to 4 stars. After I posted this review the manager contacted me and it was established that they actually do provide dog bowls, water and a pet blanket to their guests- however ours was forgotten. They refunded my pet fee and also told me they would talk and train their staff in regards to the loud disruption in the lobby at the end of the night. I'm very impressed with their polite and courteous efforts to rectify the situation, not once did I feel misunderstood or blamed by the manager during our communications!
To Pet owners: this place allows dogs but that's it. You pay $50 extra and you don't get ANY extras. They don't even have dog bowls for water or food in your room! The hotel is quite nice, they have a good restaurant, and you get a warm breakfast included. The fireplace in the lobby is quite nice. All in all a good hotel/Inn with a lot of style. Tea and biscuits from 8pm in the lobby. Just not really pet friendly, especially disappointing considering the extra $50.
What I absolutely loved: their Sheets! OH MY GOD. Why soft, delightful sheets! Slept very very well.
A bit of a downer: my husband and I were having some tea in the lobby in front of the fire around 10pm before we went up to bed. The staff were cleaning and getting ready to leave. I would have expected them to respect the fact that we were there trying to relax. However they were very loud, one lady loudly gave out orders and also talked about their personal life; it really ruined the ambiance and was quite unprofessional. Perhaps it's because we were a young couple, they thought we wouldn't mind? Hey we paid good money to stay...
