Listening to “dancing queen” while at a mexican restaurant is so beyond wild to me. There is nothing “authentic” here people. Firstly, the salsa tasted like tomato soup and not like salsa at all. It also tasted canned and not fresh. The chips are basic, but one of the best items on their menu unfortunately. I ordered the taco salad and my husband got the #1 combo. The taco salad is small, its mostly lettuce with a sprinkle of meat, guac and sour cream. Literally a small teaspoon of guac and sour cream with some cheese. There is no beans in there either and they give you the driest lime wedge known to man. Ive gotten juicy limes from freds and better salads so idk whats going on there. The chicken was a little bland, but it was juicy. So there is that. My husband was not a fan of his food either. He said the flavor was not there and the only thing he “liked” was the tostada- which had more sour cream than my taco salad. I liked the rice and beans, but he did not and couldnt understand why he kept finding random big chunks of carrot in the rice and i couldnt either. They have no salsas that they give for your food btw. No green salsa or anything. The maragritas are strong, but im guessing they want you a little tipsy so you cant tell that you are getting scammed. Which is what I felt, for a bit over $50. I dont know what it is about Alaska, but they cannot get mexican food right. Its all watered down. Guess all these places having “gringo” tacos should be the biggest warning sign. No authentic mexican place has gringo tacos lol. Gave two stars instead of one, for the customer service. Which really is the bare minimum that they did- but still. I wish I would have gotten my money back, but im too shy to...
Read moreService was mediocre at best- waitress had a very dry personality and seemed annoyed when we asked for a refill on our drinks. Food was just okay. Not the best, not the worst. Chips were very, very stale and the chips and salsa always set the tone for the quality of food you’re about to get so right off the bat I was sort of let down but remained open minded. The “queso” reminded me of a jar of dip you’d get off the chip aisle. Definitely not the creamy white cheesy goodness you love to find at good Mexican restaurants. Our food was served hot and every thing was as we ordered it. It wasn’t anything remarkable but it also wasn’t terrible. I’d have to really want mediocre Mexican food to want to go back to this place though but seeing as how options are so limited in Fairbanks that probably means...
Read moreService was great. Our waiter was attentive and happy to answer questions and offer suggestions.
However, the food was probably the worst Mexican food we've ever had. The salsa was flavorless and the burritos made us both sick. I can't speak for their meat items but we got bean burritos with extra fillings and it was mediocre at best. The tortilla was like the cheap store brand and the beans were barely cooked. The plate was piping hot when it arrived, making me think they heated it up in a microwave. We ate here on our last day in Fairbanks and spent the next 20 hours nauseous and vomiting.
Whoever recommended this place because they're from Colorado or Wyoming and they "know good Mexican food" is wrong. Take it from a Southern Californian who actually knows good Mexican food:...
