On Saturday January 6th, myself and boyfriend walked into Local restaurant around 8 p.m. where we were told it was a 20-minute wait. As we waited by the coat rack for about 8 minutes, a table became open and was immediately cleaned and ready for the next set of patrons. After 6 minutes of idly waiting, as the table remained unoccupied, I meekly inquired with the unattractive, chubby, pale hostess. She quickly snapped, feigning a smile, that the table is reserved. I was wary about that response, but my boyfriend was eager to have a burger. Normally a salad, healthy eater, he yearned a sloppy burger that evening.
About another 3 to 4 minutes elapsed and an older couple walked in. The neck tattoo waitress, who appears to be a mix of Asian and Caucasian, excitedly greeted the couple with a big hug and kiss on the cheek. She mumbled something to the unattractive chubby host, who assured her that the older couple will get the 12 minute-open table discussed above. My boyfriend overheard the attractive, darker hostess stating that the couple, pointing to us, were waiting longer. It did not matter as three minutes elapsed and the older couple got the table in question.
My boyfriend immediately went to the hostess who claimed that the table was reserved for the older couple. Obviously, that's hogwash. If that was the case, they would have been immediately seated upon arrival, and not standing by the door. The unattractive, chubby, pale, hostess then wanted to place us at the table adjacent to the front door, as that table was becoming available. The unattractive, chunky hostess wanted to make a seamless transition when the undesirable table became available.
Please keep in mind that it was about 6 degrees on that Saturday evening.
The chubby faced manager was of no assistance. After my boyfriend eloquently explained the fiasco, the manager dismissed it by offering us a drink. We did not want a drink. He did not want to hear the virtues of the matter. We walked out.
Fairfield Connecticut has lots of eatery options. We enjoyed a juicy burger at Plan B where we had a pleasant evening.
The chunky, unattractive pale hostess should be fired. Period. The tattooed Asian/ Caucasian looking waitress should be reprimanded, and/or terminated as well.
As mentioned above, Fairfield Connecticut has a lot of restaurant options. Don't waste your time with rude,...
Read moreHad high expectations walking in to this place. The atmosphere was inviting and while not overly crowded for an early Saturday night, the place had a real nice vibe. We were seated upstairs, and we greeted by our waiter shortly afterwards. We were ready to order, not just beverages, but our meal as well. We ordered some wings to start, sweet chili sauce and two different salads as our meals. Ice tea to drink, which although the waiter assured us was fresh brewed, it arrived and I would bet it was froma soda gun. The wings arrived after a while, and were tasty and reasonably hot (in temperature). Then it really went down from there. I had a Cobb salad with chicken and my wife had a salad with fried goat cheese. Both salads took about an hour to arrive after we ordered, which was way too long, but the part that brought the rating down was how they arrived. The lettuce part of the salad was nearly frozen, and the chicken, was luke warm. The goat cheese salad was also served on near frozen lettuce as well. It was barely edible, but since we were now running late for the show we were going to, I didn't dare ask for a replacement, given that it took forever in yhe first place. A total disappointing ending. I have to say that it was one of the worst salads I have ever ordered. We paid for our meal and left. I cannot imagine going back again. I gave two stars, although it was strictly for the wings, which was the only tasty item we had. There are way too many better choices in the area to...
Read moreI've been to Local twice in the last month, and am pretty sure I will never go again for food. The first visit was acceptable, food was OK and they didn't have the first 2 beers I was looking for left (still listed on the menu but ran out, which is understandable). However, this past Friday night I went with a friend and my girlfriend and encountered the rudest waitress I have had in recent memory.
We were seated upstairs and there were at all points at least 2 open tables, so there was no need for the rushed feeling the waitress imparted on us. The staff not only forgot to bring a glass of water for one member of our group, but also brought a beer when he ordered a flight. My girlfriend, who is Gluten-Free, ordered "Disco Fries" as an app. The fries, which are covered in cheese, were nearly cold when they came out. The gravy they were supposed to come with was nearly non-existent, and the meat used in the recipe was terrible. To top it off, I hate dressing on my salads, and the staff put the dressing directly on my salad despite including an empty dressing cup on the plate.
The evening ended with being rushed out the venue by am impatient staff despite there being plenty of people at the bar.
The short version: just go here for...
