Letās put this into perspective. I placed not one but two orders for take out on Cinco de Mayo (which was well over a month ago) and unfortunately had to cancel my order because The restaurant was over an hour and half behind on orders yet closed at 9pm.. for reference my scheduled order time was 7:45pm. Iām sorry, I understand that a pandemic was and still is happening but when you have two hungry children waiting for food that you ordered and couldnāt receive due to a lack of preparation on your run of show that day isnāt my fault or anyone of your other customerās. Furthermore it doesnāt give you the right to offer mediocre service in a time where small businesses should be putting their best foot forward.
Iām extremely disappointed in how this was handled because not only was I verbally told that I would be provided with a gift card the day after when I double confirmed that I was refunded, but after following up one week later and then 3 weeks later and then well over a month later, I still havenāt received it.. and Iāve spoken with their manager Matt as well who claims that I in fact was sent a gift card. I mean he was nice and all but quite frankly I feel like he just said that to pacify me at the moment.
At this point Iāve been left to believe that this was a lie, because theyāre unresponsive via telephone (this is a business right?) and I still havenāt received it. And to support this theory of not receiving it, let me just state that I receive a daily visual snapshot of the mail I receive so I donāt think that USPS is lying.
Itās unfortunate that Iāve given ample time for this to be rectified and nothing has been done. I used to visit your establish very regularly and after your Cinco de Mayo fiasco, I can no longer support this business just for the mere fact that you think itās ok to not take care of your patrons for an inconvenience on your part. Itās rare that I write a review, but this was worth it. And this will also be going on Yelp and other forms of social media to make light of the type of service (or lack there of) that you think itās ok to offer your patrons. This is unacceptable and customer service is still paramount and you still need...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe really enjoy the food at this venue and I am glad to have found it. The menu is creative and offers a fusion of Latin and Caribbean flavors, not just Mexican flavors, which makes this place very unique! I personally love Mexican food, which itself already has a great variety depending on what area of Mexico the food is inspired from, so I really appreciate a place that thinks outside of the box with menu development and offers dishes that you can't find anywhere else. Because of this this, Bodega will always be part of my regular dining rotation since they offer things that I cannot find anywhere else.
Favorites of mine on their menu are the brussel sprouts made with pineapple aoili (so amazing!), conchinita pibil tacos, and mexican chocolate pot de creme. Their black beans are excellent with flavors reminiscent of Cuban black beans, though I must admit the portion of rice when I had it was very small and a little hard and dry. Their guacamole is good, but not great, for me it lacked in flavor and was in need of a bit more citrus, however, the person I dined with liked it more than I did so I would say to just voice your preference when ordering. Food flavors, like art, is subjective after all!
As for service, I have never had a problem, though I admittedly see some truth in some reviews that I have read here that leaned more towards the bland side. My first few experiences were nothing special, they sometimes seem rushed and a bit curt when picking up, but it is a small and busy place. All of my dine in experiences were as you would expect, the server was nice and became warmer and warmer with each visit and we grew to like her a lot! Ultimately, what brings me back is the food I have had here that I crave regularly
All in all, I definitely recommend this place and I myself look forward to trying their interesting brunch menu I just saw for the first time now, as well as other things...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe loud music makes it virtually impossible to have a conversation, which is just as well because the focus here is the really tasty food. Tacos is a competitive niche in this area, and the crew at Bodega appear to focus on quality, courteous service, at reasonable prices - well done! The Guacamole is generous and lumped with fresh avocado. In fact everything tasted fresh and delicately prepared (not overwhelmed with Chipotle Mayo). There is definitely a bar atmosphere to this place, but the clientele were all types. The bar is well stocked and variety of tequilas is bewildering. I suggest going straight with the Margarita and your favorite tequila rather than risk the cocktails. Well done guys - keep focusing on the quality ingredients and great service - I will keep on coming.
8/25/23 - returned again - music still too loud-service is fast as they try to move you out politely during peak times -...
